All I ask do not blame kicker

That's absurd. It was incredibly loud for the entire game. Were you there?
It’s been MUCH louder. Heat and sun zapped some of the crowd. A night game would have been ideal. Crowd didn't impact game at all. Not one false start penalty on GA—only one on UT. It was loud but not Neyland at night loud.

I agree this will be the best lesson for this young man. He’s only a sophomore so he will have many chances to keep getting tested and will become better for it for sure. I’ve never been in his shoes for sure and I can only imagine I’d be a mess of nerves with a stadium full of people too.
Coaches are supposed to know if players can cut it when the pressure is on. You simulate the pressure in practice. How many game winners did Jeff Hall miss? I can't remember any.

I agree with you, but man how do you simulate that crowd and the intensity of that moment other than just going through it? He seems like a sharp young man and I’ll bet we see a different kicker emerge from this.

You absolutely CAN NOT simulate in practice the immense pressure of a game winning kick against a top 5 program in front of 102K and a TV audience of millions.
