All 22 view

Is there anywhere to view the replay on the all 22 view-the whole field?
It's interesting to see the entire field, reads, and coverages for the game in that view. Let's you see the game within the game.

Based on a friend that was at the game and his observations, we just weren't running deep routes. Joe wasn't missing open guys down the field. He was making the right reads based on the plays that were called.

I'm hoping we were intentionally working on certain things that will pay dividends in Gainesville. At this point, this is what I'm choosing to hope.

Does anyone know the longest pass attempt yesterday?

I, too, wish there were all 22 videos available for review.

Pass protection wasn’t great and APSU played 2 deep most of the game. That’s why UT rushed for 228 yards and all the underneath stuff was open.

I thought it was the center. Regardless who it was pass protection was not very good. Neither was joe or the receivers.
It all goes together. Poor pass protection leads to poor passes and poor pass catches. It throws off the entire timing of the play. That is what CJH means by it takes 11 players playing as 1 to make a great play and sustain drives.

I'd love to see a lot of Vols All 22 film. Who wouldn't? I've got a better chance of being named the starting QB against FL next week than watching a significant amount of fresh, good film.

Beyond that, I'm hoping Cooper Mays comes back this week to practice and provide some leadership and glue for our O-Line. Lots of folks said, "it'll be fine. Next man up" but the rhythm, leadership, and stability of the O-Line starts with the guy over the ball. We need him.

You are dead on. They did not attempt a single "normal" deep read. I really think it wasn't as much vanilla play calling as " keep them safe" playcalling.

I didn't realize if was locked down like our nuclear codes. I know ESPN has the sky cam version -I guess taping that is an option. Do coaches think Joe quarterback will find a wrinkle or flaw on offense/defense?

Heupel will find the flaws, hopefully, and Joe's job this week, like every week, is to study and understand what the offensive staff thinks will be the weaknesses.

His job during the game is to execute the right reads and put the ball in the hands of the best choice.

I think Joe's getting a raw deal from fans about Austin Peay. He didn't call the plays in that game, Heupel apparently did. A helluva lot of those sideline throws weren't "options" but set plays that Coach Josh Heupel wanted him to run.

He executed pretty well on those plays and on most of the short down field passes. We also had no handoff problems. The running game was mostly pretty clean. It's not like "Joe screwed up" but Joe wasn't given a very interesting gameplan to execute.

Why? Why almost no variation? Why no fast pace tempo? Why did Coach call a completely un-Coach Heupel game?

None of us here have any idea why Coach Heupel called the game he called. We can speculate (and Volnation members [me included] are never short on strange speculation) but we don't know.

Heupel doesn't have to speculate. I have to trust he knew and he knows how to lead the Vols.

I recall one time we were gonna throw it deep but Ollie Lane totally whiffed on a block and got Joe sacked
I do believe you are right. That was a strange play. The pressure came straight up the middle and Milton didn't appear to even see it. He didn't try to move until a split second before contact.

Heupel said they took away the deep part of the field. Which left the middle read. Or something along those lines.

Duh! So simple yet so many here can’t understand. We’ve torched teams for 2 seasons and the game plan for those coming in to play us .
1: Don’t get beat deep
2: Don’t get beat deep

Florida will have this Defensive gameplan.
1. Don't get beat deep.
2. Make Milton beat you. (Aka hault the run game).

Offensive gameplan.
1. Establish the run game and use the rpo to your advantage.
3. Let mertz run.
4. Attack Hadden.

Just a guess.

We didn't start running all the short sideline screen passes until Joe was like 1-8.

Your contention is that Coach Josh Heupel changed his tempo, his gameplan, etc for Joe Milton? Heupel abandoned all we've seen him do for 2 years at UT because of 7 missed passes?

That's laughable but believe as you wish.

I believe Heupel called the plays he did because we HAD to score some points and he felt like our WRs could just bully their way down the field. And they did.
