According to Doug Mathews. Has hip flexor. Not overly serious but he thinks they'll apply for and get a medical redshirt for Alexis. I think this is good news, especially for the young man. Will have 2 more years to play iirc.

I thought he already was eligible for redshirt? he's only appeared in one game.

Don't believe this is correct. Unless rule has changed recently.....

People confuse redshirt for medical hardship

Medical Hardship Requirements
To be eligible for a medical hardship waiver, a student-athlete has to meet the following criteria:
The student-athlete must suffer the injury during one of their four seasons of college competition or during the senior year of high school.
The injury must be incapacitating. That means it must be a season-ending injury.
The injury must occur prior to the start of the second half of the season.
The student-athlete must not have competed in more than 30% of the season or three contests, whichever is greater.

So remind me who we have left at DT that is healthy or semi healthy... Is it Tuttle, Vickers, Mixon, Picou, Phillips (hybrid), Kongbo (hybrid), Bain?

no, that's correct. You can not get a normal redshirt if you play one down.

A redshirt is the term applied to a player they does not play in any games that year*for whatever reason*(medical, developmental, grades, whatever).*You have 5 years from when your clock starts (for almost all softball players this occurs when they attend their first class in the fall) to use 4 years of eligibility. A player uses that year of eligibility as soon as they go into a game (even one at bat or one pinch run in a fall game).

A medical hardship waiver (often called a medical redshirt) is the term for getting a year or eligibility back due to injury. There are several things that have to be met but, in general, here*are the basics:
the injury must occur in the the first half of the season
the athlete cannot have participated in more than 30% of the games
the athlete cannot be ready to return to full participation before the end of the season (so, yes, in katyite's daughter's case, she would still be able to take batting practice; if she is not able to throw, that would not be considered full participation);*[A big issue with this is when coaches don't understand the rule and say, well they have lost almost the whole season, so I just won't play them and try to get the year back. If the medical records say they are cleared for full participation, it doesn't matter if they play, they do not meet the criteria.]

I believe I am right - normal redshirt you cannot appear in any games. Medical redshirt which Alexis can apply for you have to have appeared in less than 30% of games.

so 50% of our starters have appeared in less than 30% of our games...well, at least it seems that way...:)

GO VOLS...BEAT COCKS SOON!

I think we should look at Mosely . At worst he'd eat up space be hard to move. Get something out of his scholarship.

Yeah, I think the goal for Butcher is to move inside. He's coming off a redshirt freshman year and now recovering from injury iirc. He'll be inside next season.

Last week Jones said Butcher will see playing time against USC. He's 100% healthy and is up to 275lb now. So as far as depth goes it's vickers/Tuttle/Picou/Kongbo/Phillips/butcher. Obviously I know that Kongo and Phillips are DE but they've both seen significant playing time at DT this season and now with this development to Johnson I believe they'll continue to do so. Would love to see Butcher come out and rip some heads off. That guy is strong AF and has some serious rage bottled up 😡

Once again...........another excuse for Butch to say, "We're building a program" and this is a line of scrimmage league and we don't have nobody right now...............Man, I don't know why people don't see the same thing in Butch the way I do............he's just buying time and if he don't win all remaining games this year by 14 pts or more............he's not the coach for UT..........so we will see...........actually even w/ the talent left we should be beat everyone by 21 pts.........

No Johnson. No Obrien. No Kmac. Kirkland and McDowell are questionable. 107th in rushing defense. LOL can't get worse
