"But I'm not a huge Homer idiot" might have been better.

Bama is tough folks, I hate em' but they are really good on both sides of the ball and anybody thinking otherwise is just kidding themselves. I'm not counting us out, we have a chance but we must play extremely well in every facet of the game to have a chance to win.

GO VOLS !!!

Hmm...well personally i'm not even worried about our D versus their O. I think we can shut them down fairly easily, they are probably the third best offense we have seen up to this point. This game is going to come down to us scoring touchdowns, if we can score 21+ we will win this game. If Crompton can play like he has the psat 2 and 1/2 games, and I believe he can because the coaches have found what makes it comfortable, we could win by 10 or more. We have the playmakers on offense and defense.

It's going to take a lot for the Vols to keep this one close. I am very interested to see what kind of gameplan the Vols work up against Bama.

Monte Kiffin's had the Florida and Bama games circled on his calendar since stepping foot on campus. He'll have some schemes to get pressure on McElroy that Bama hasn't seen yet---mark it down!

That probably true. I think the extra week really helps us in that department. However, Nick isnt a slough when it comes to coaching defense either and we have a lot less room for error than Bama does.

I forsee Bama just pounding it down our throats. They know we dont have the depth to keep up with them.

That said, I hope our guys play the game of thier lives and shock the world.

never said anything about our offense, only that our defense will hold alabama to under 14 points...

Actually I guess the title is a bit confusing. I meant to say that Alabama's offense won't score more than 14 points.

Did I see you at the waffle house last night? :)

my exact thoughts,,there running game is gonna really wear on a very thin D line in the second half, that could make for a LONG day.

I see where some have tried to compare our offense to Georgias. Im not here to flame, just here to post some stats from the NCAA that might help with the comparison.
UGA is ranked 97th in total Offense, Bama is 17th. UGA is ranked 104th in rushing offense, Bama is 11th. Passing offense goes to Georgia by 9 spots, UGA 51st, Bama 60th, no suprise. UGA is ranked 74th in scoring offense, Bama is 12th. UGA in Passing Eff is 61st, Bama is 25th.
The defenses are so far apart its not even funny. I think the closest they come to us in any category is 46 spots and that is in rushing D, they are 53rd and we are 7th.
I think that is why Crompton was so successful because of the non existent Georgia D. I will admit that I was impressed with his showing in the game along with the 2nd half of the Auburn game (for the most part). But when you go against a defense that ranks 75th in total D, 53rd in rushing D, 92nd in passing eff. D, 100 in scoring D, and 97th in passing D, you should move the ball. Alot different that Bamas which is 2nd,7th,2nd,8th,and 7th in the same categories.

Of course I know when these 2 teams meet, you can throw stats out the door. Im looking for a great game and everyone traveling, please be safe. Roll Tide and good luck.

Not big on stats.

Bama is very good, and deeper at more positions than UT. Should be a good game.

I agree, rivalry games, you can throw stats out the door.
I was just trying to compare Bama vs. UGA.
It should be a good game and I'm looking forward to it..

Bama has more talent and is better coached than UGA. It's not a good comparison for Vols fans to make.

The rivalry games never seem to go as planned though for either team.

I'm not going to get into the Vol/Bama game just yet. However, I will say this to all of those who think Alabama is the best thing since sliced bread; they have NEVER beaten Texas in FB - couldn't do it under Bear & can't do it now. If Texas should wind up playing Alabama this year in any bowl the Longhorns will do to the Tide what Utah did to them in the Sugar Bowl only much worst. In short this year's Texas Longhorn team would beat the ever living sh*t out of Alabama - not even remotely close.

Just like Oklahoma did Florida right? I dont think Alabama is the best thing since sliced bread :dunno: but Texas wouldnt blowout Alabama. :eek:k:

i think bama will score 20+ points, the Vols lack of depth on the DL and OL will hurt us and special teams will make or break the game, but there is a chance that the VOLs might win :)

As a Bama fan, I have to tell you, I'm worried that UT has two weeks to prepare for the game in Tuscaloosa. You've got a solid defense, your offense is getting a lot better, and anything can happen. But the title of this thread "Alabama will score under 14 points" seems absurd. Bama is running a totally balanced offense, and averaging nearly 450 yards per game. (Bama is averaging more passing yards per game, for instance, than UT.) And of course, the Tide can pound the ball on the ground.

True, Bama put up just 22 points on Ole Miss Saturday and that was probably the Tide's worst performance on offense, particularly in the red zone. But the game was a total beatdown and there was no hurry, no rush for points at the end. Just as they did against Arkansas, Bama basically shut it down midway through the fourth quarter against Ole Miss, just running up the middle to run the clock out. That's the point: The Tide hasn't needed to score points at the end. As it is, they're averaging 37 points per game.

Yes, UT has a great defense, but don't think it won't be tested in Tuscaloosa. McElroy throws deep, and often, and he's only thrown one interception in six games. And of course, Ingram and Richardson pound it up the middle behind a very strong offensive line. I'm not flaming here. I'm just saying that it's naive to think UT can win this game by just scoring 15 points. You're going to need more than that. Still, Ole Miss just got 3 points. Arkansas, with a bigtime passing offense, got 7. We'll see if Tennessee can do better. You might. Bama isn't invincible. But the strength of the Tide isn't just the great defense. Just saying...

After thinking about it, UGA was basically the first pro-style offense that Monte has gotten to coach against. The results speak for themselves. Alabama, who also runs a pro-style offense I believe, will have to deal with a 2 week Monte game plan on how to stop them.. If we can keep Green in check, then we can do the same to Jones. I feel really good about our chances solely b/c of how great our Defense played against a pro-style offense....

Go Vols!!!!

Alabama also is much better than UGA across the board...No comparision....If its a low scoring game then We stand a chance, It gets into the 20's and We may be in trouble....Very hard to score on that Bama defense.

Look if Kentucky can put 20 points up, against this stiffling defence of Alabama, and 26 against USCe, whats that say for this weekends cocks and cheaters game? I just think the game won't be lopsided as it was last year. I believe , we can play well against Bama. A week off , with fresh legs will definately help. My fear is more on special teams, than any thing else. Go VOLS !
