Best team we've had in 15 years. One year Butch. :banghead2:

Y'all thread police can thank ESPN and Butch Jones for the 49-10 shellacking by our biggest rival...at home.

By the time we got to Bama, we might as well have been a Nursing Home Team!!

I have a proud, rich tradition of posting on stupid threads that quickly get deleted by the mods. That's the only reason for this post.

You can even use this game to judge anything. Not only was our defense decimated by injuries but our offensive line was to this game. we had 2nd and 3rd string on the oline. This had trouble written all over it the monday before the game. Im just glad we even scored honestly.

I swear some of our fans just love to be miserable. This Bama team has shut down every single offense it has come across other than Ole Miss and their bought team.

Washington was flat embarrassing their rivals all season, 70 on Oregon, 66 on Cal, 44 on Stanford. They scored over 40 points in 10 games this year. They play Bama and score 7 minutes into the game, then don't cross the 50 yard line until 2 minutes left in the 4th.

We did not have a team capable of beating Bama this year. Gnash your teeth, say "I'm not afraid", and talk about how we owned them before, then when you come back to reality accept the fact that NO ONE is beating Bama right now. Bill Belichick wouldn't have been able to win the game in Neyland with our team.

There are a lot of reasons why as many 5* players don't come to Knoxville anymore, and some of them are things as fans you don't want to know about. Eventually Saban will retire and if the NCAA does their job they will vacate a lot of their championships. But until then try to keep reasonable expectations for our team.

NCAA do their job? Not likely to ever happen because the money thrown out to the team's and conferences is too big. Alabama is only showing the future of so called "college football". Do kids really love living 3-4 years in Tuscaloosa? I don't think so. Time for the cheap NFL to step up to the plate and pay these better players coming out of HS. Recruiting should go away, replaced with an NFL draft for kids coming out of high school to play minor league ball just like baseball. At least 60 drafted and paid players per Power 5 team with each player making $25-$50k each. That's about a $240M investment by the entire league or about $8M per NFL team. Certainly affordable. No need for NCAA oversight. No need for kids to attend a classroom.

Anyone who doesn't recognize the effect that the injuries on both sides of the line of scrimmage, to linebackers, and in the defensive backfield had on this game, don't really understand football.

Alabama was a better team but the injuries to the OL made it impossible for the Vols to run an offense. Injuries at DT, LB, and DB made it impossible for the Vols to do much more than slow down Bama's running game. Tide would have won but the game would have been much closer if Vols had been at full strength.

BAMA is a pro team.

Fact.

there are several first rounders, also part of the frustration on our end. But im not allowed to call Butch's recruiting into question.

Seems like he used to be an ace recruiter. Hope this OC and QB hire can change some that
