I couldn't watch the whole game, but from what I could tell, we were slightly better in the 4th than their 2nd string. That to me was telling. We couldn't stop their 1st string - at all in most instances. We used to be competitive with Bama - not any more. IMHO, we've got 2 more recruiting classes which must be top 10 to be competitive and we have to have more playmakers - especially on defense.

Josh Dobbs looks like a real player. He's elusive, smart, has a strong arm and can run! He's exactly what we need to run a read-option. He could have taken off on a few more runs but I think CBJ held him back a bit.

Look, we're 4-4 and hopefully at worst 6-6 at season's end and heading to a bowl. That is EXACTLY where many of us said we'd be.

Everyone relax, we were close (or should have been) in two games; got creamed by the #1 and #2 teams in the country. It is (or should have been) expected.

BTW - Did you hear the announcers say we had the "toughest schedule in the history of college football"? Not sure if he's serious, but playing the 1 (Bama); 2(Oregon); 6(Georgia); 12(Florida); 11(South Carolina) and slated to play 5(Mizz) and 18(Auburn) isn't for the faint of heart.

My thoughts:

1. The result was what I expected. Bama is very good. Although I genuinely hate losing to them and despise how good they are, I'm already over the loss. Our season goals are all still attainable. Game means nothing (although it stings my pride).

2. Team came out very flat early and looked overwhelmed by the moment. Hope they get that out of their system for next week.

3. Dobbs is the future. I respect Worley as a player and person, but I won't be disappointed if Dobbs takes the starter role from him.

4. Marquez North is a beast. Can't wait to see what he does in the last four games.

5. Nice to have D Young back

6. McCullers seemed very active again. Will be useful down the stretch.

7. O Line played well. 4.5 yards a carry and no sacks allowed against the nation's top defenses ain't bad. Only coaching complaint is we should have run the ball more.

7. I think McCarron is the glue that holds Bama together. Be glad when he's gone.

8. We have not come close to playing our best game offensively. Clearly today was bad, but I keep seeing glimpses that make me think we may explode on someone very soon. I'm hoping it is Mizzou.

Going to need some breaks against Mizzou and Aubie. In my mind 6-6 comes down to Vandy. Should be interesting matchup against Vandy...and our guys should be so angry about last year against KY that it's not a question of if, but more of a question of by how many.

Another embarrassing loss on national TV. :realmad:

uh. it was alabama, we have the toughest schedule this side of anywhere. i do not make excuses fellas. bur thats tough.
as long as these boys leave it on the field and dont quit im happy. we fought.

ive followed recruiting for 15 years. and were 3-4 recruiting cycles behind tje tards, we arent that good. and we beat sc, and deserved to beat UGA. we should beat vandy and ky. if we take one of auburn or mizz were overachieving

I was at the game wearing my #27 jersey, and I continuously argued with the fans around me that Texas AM and LSU are not bigger rivals to Bama than Tennessee...They won't accept that Phil Fulmer owned them, and I really can't wait until the tide turns and we start beating them year after year.

I know it was a blowout against a better team but I like how hard they played, right till the very end. That has not been the case in recent years. I think the team is definitely headed in the right direction and in good hands. A few more good recruiting classes and I bet we're back in business.

Tennessee has historically been a bigger rival for Alabama than LSU has. Texas A&M is a new kid on the block. Two games against them doesn't mean it's rivalry. I would imagine most Alabama fans would tell you that except for Auburn, Tennessee is their biggest rival.
