Well the game is finally here. Bama comes in 6-0 and #5 while UT comes to T-Town at #17. This game is too hard to call in my book. Both Bama and UT have been confusing so far this year. Bama can whoop the gators but then squeak by ole miss?? That was easily the worst game Bama has played this year, it was terrible. UT also can play and beat the best (LSU) but then get whooped by UGA and almost take UAB into overtime. It's just a matter of which team will show up for both clubs. I'm hoping that because the Tide is back at home, with the crowd on their side, and with UT being such a big rival, our team will be ready and play like they did against UF. You never know though. The line is Bama -3 as of right now. I like the Tide to cover that, but not by much. 5 more days until we find out if Bama really is a top 5 team. I can't wait!! Roll Tide!!!

Your tune has changed a bit. Perhaps know are reasons why UT could very well win carry more weight with you.

12 I think history has shown us that you can throw records and rankings out of the window when these two schools play. This is the 3rd Saturday in Oct (I know it is actually the 4th but tradition still means somthing in this rivalry). You can count on it being a tough slobber knocking of a game, it seems like it always is. I think UT will come together and bammer will play well too. At the end of regulation I think bammer beat down day will still be in tact. UT wins by 6.

How was your scrimmage?

Good thing the Scout Team doesn't have a kicker, eh?

Well as you all know, the 3rd Saturday in October rivalry will be renewed 2 weeks from now.  First, Bama has to take care of the pitiful Ole Miss Rebels.  Then, your 3-2 vols come to Tuscaloosa for what promises to be a glorious weekend for Tide fans.  Your team has shown that they simply have no offense, but considering Bama kept UF's "amazing" offense to just 3 points, it makes no difference how good or bad your offense is.  Your defense is supposedly very stout, but then again UF's was supposed to be even better.  31 points and a Bama win later, their defense was left looking sub par.  Now, we Tide fans know what it's like to lose a big impact player (Prothro), and I hated seeing Jason Allen go down because you never like to see a player get hurt...however, the rest of your secondary is average at best and I see Brodie having a field day against it.  I don't really see UT even making this much of a game, my prediction is Bama 24  UT 7.  The UF game was the loudest I've ever heard Bryant-Denny but it won't compare to the noise Clausen and company are going to have to try and deal with 2 weeks from now.  Bama will move to 7-0 and your "national championship" contender  will fall to 3-3.  Enjoy the next 2 weeks because come October 22, the great pumpkin Fulmer and your orange clad excuse for an SEC contender are going to be embarssed, again, on national television.  Roll Tide!

Should be very interesting matchup and also interesting to see who really comes out strong.

I don't think Clausen will be nearly as easily rattled as Leak was, and I am sure you guys are not going to let us figure out your play calling signals. In a way, that's how Florida shot themselves in the foot...

1) Leak leaked out all of his poise and confidence. Kissing the grass a few times will do that to ya.

2) They telegraphed their audibles and Peprah an Co. were happy to be right where they were going... before they got there.

I have said before, I am not as concerned about your offense as I am your D. I would almost say that if it is a low scoring affair, then the odds would be for you guys to walk out of there with a Win.

You'll note that I do not bother trying to pick scores, so I just try to compare the two teams and therein lies my problem...

It is like there are four teams coming to play.. the GOOD BAMA and the BAD BAMA and the GOOD TENN and the BAD TENN ... *sigh*

If you'll notice I still predict Bama to win by 10 points. After seeing that UF isn't nearly as good as we thought they were, Bama's win doesn't look so impressive. Add to that the fact that the Tide looked like a high school team against Ole Miss. In my last post I predicted Brodie to be able to throw the ball on your defense just like I did a week ago and I predicted your offense to basically get shut down. I think UT scoring 10 points, which I predict to happen, is getting pretty shut down. UF doesn't look very good now, but how does that make UT look considering they lost by 12 to the Gators? Things can change drastically in one week and while Bama played awfully bad against Ole Miss, I still think they will handle UT. It's easy to sit back and criticize another team when your team isn't playing that week, but just remember what happened to Bama. You think that because you had an off week you will be more prepared and ready to play. Bama had an off week before Ole Miss and played awful. Off weeks can cause rustiness and sloppy play.

I think it had a lot more to do with Prothro not being out there and you guys stuggling to find another way to stretch out the defense.

I am not so sure I agree with that, as with the exception of the two minute drill at the end, (and even then we had a couple of "gifts") we Tiders looked very flat.

Let me begin by saying this is a real question and maybe some of the bama faithful can answer this for me:

Who are bama's back-up QB's? I only ask because, after last season, Vol fans have learned the name of every QB on our bench.

Do they have any experience? While our back-up may be off the mark some days, he still has real game experience.

I'm not asking for Croyle to go down. I really want to win w/ him in there and stop all this speculation.

BAMA WEEK!!! I CAN'T BELIEVE IT'S FINALLY HERE!!!

Our 2nd string QB is John Parker Wilson. He is a grey shirt freshman. His experience is very limited, he's 3 for 3 on the season with a 36 yard TD pass in the USC game. Unfortunately, JP decided to drive drunk the other night so he will not be playing if Brodie goes down. Marc Guillon is our next backup. He is bloody awful. After about a game and a half last year he was replaced by Spencer Pennington who yall know is also one of the worst QB's in the history of the game. Basically, if Brodie goes down then we turn to Guillon and we lose badly.

Wasn't the score 19-7? Maybe it was 16-7 now that I think about it. Either way, UT lost by two scores to a UF team that is being exposed as the average team that they are. And my life isn't dominated by the number 12, right now it's dominated by the numbers 6-0 and #5. :biggrin2:

UT lost to a team that Bama could beat 9 out of 10 times. I don't know why they are coming after you 12.

If we are into the numbers, 9 out of 10 has a pleasant ring to it. :birgits_giggle: :birgits_giggle: :birgits_giggle:

3 games in a row

6 to go to even the series!

The Bama fans sure have changed their tune. Last week, they pretty much guaranteed that Bama was going to beat the VOLS in a blowout. Now they are saying it's going to be a close game. Make up your minds Bama fans.

Are you getting scared now? LOL

GO VOLS !!!!!

Our backup QB? Hmm...not really sure now since one of em got arrested last night. Seriously, I hate to kick a guy when he's down, but the guy made a poor decision and got caught. He's only a kid. maybe he'll wise up. Whatever...he ain't playing this Saturday, that's for sure.

We are a bit deeper than we were last season, but the others are right. The other QB's really arent that good, have little experience and we'd probably be pretty one-dimensional should Croyle get hurt.

Oh, and Jenn, our fans should NEVER guarantee a victory, much less a blowout. You must have been hearing from the ones that had just left the beer joint. :birgits_giggle: UT is just too good to overlook.

I think its gonna be a close game.

Roll Tide!

I'm glad that you understood that I meant the Bama fans who mentioned last week that Bama was going to destroy the Vols and now they are saying it's going to be close. You never know what can happen, Bama COULD win by a lot of points, but after the Ole Miss/Bama game, several Bama fans changed their minds real quick. It was funny to see them squirm a little. LOL

Thanks for the info. I asked because I was unsure after the arrest. You're right, bad decision but he's just a young guy. Hopefully Shula sees that and has some mercy.

The bad thing about it being Bama-Vol time is that football season is already half over with.

True but a win this week makes the offseason much more bearable.
