Alabama practice vs Tennessee practices on day one

Tell that to Scott frost at ucf.

Look at UCF’s schedule. Yeah, they beat Auburn in a meaningless bowl game. UT could have beaten Auburn in that game. Auburn could not have cared less about that game. UCF had an unusually decent group of players last year and now will sink back to their normal position. (See Hawaii, Sugar Bowl)

I don’t see that it matters whose recruits they are as long as they’re good recruits. CMR could have won the east with them, but not the SEC, IMHO. You have to have a really good roster of players and a really good staff to know what to do with them to win the SEC. One without the other won’t do it.

That is my point. Acvol3 is acting like the coach doesn't matter only the top players is the predictor to success. I was using Kirby as an example of a good coach elevating a team.

The point was, that Scott frost ( a great coach) elevated a team that was winless into an undefeated team. This is another example that refutes what ACvol3 is saying.

Oh come on man :post-4-1090547912: That is insane..We just came off the worst season in UT history but all of a sudden we are gonna be world beaters by fall?...Get real..if we can win 6 games this season it will be a success.

You know how it works, each spring its:

- best strength and conditioning ever
- best team chemistry ever
- most focus ever
- no stars, "reminds me of 1998"

Got'cha. Yes, this is a tough league we're in. And if winning were easy, everybody would be doing it. It takes a lot of pieces coming together to get it done.

Every HC hired in the SEC has a lot of football knowledge and experience, even D. Dooley, (I know some won't agree), but some can put it all together better than others.

Butch Jones could coach, but not to SEC standards. CMR was an offensive genius, and could recruit well, but is not an alpha male leader like Saban.

As you pointed out, you have to have it all to be ultimately successful. Coaching, players, luck, fans, etc. If you take one of the first two out, you have no chance at winning the SEC. And it really helps to have the rest. There's just no magic to it. It's very, very hard work. And it's not done in one season.

Alabama's first practice of spring 2018 (3-20-18) - YouTube
So, I went and looked on what Alabama did their first day, compared to our first day of practice. The similarities are all there. No music, same moves, and basically using the same equipment almost. This staff knows what it takes for practice. These players will be proud of this staff when they make it through them. I see an Alabama, Georgia, and Clemson type team by fall. Add some USC type of offense in there, and this team may go a little further than some are expecting. Our receivers may be a lot quicker on catching the football than what we have seen. Our quarterbacks may be quicker on their feet, throwing the ball, and able to scoot running it faster by fall. Our defense may be able to tackle harder, be faster to the ball, and be quicker to get that quarterback by fall. By September 1st, we might just be in awe by the 1st game. :clapping::rock:

everything is possible on the first day of practice...:)

GO VOLS!

Really? We would’ve beaten Auburn? Yea, we would’ve gotten to the 1 yd line, and went into the shotgun to have four false starts in a row. Threw an interception after that, or fumbled the football after a sack, then they would’ve drove 99 yds after the fumble to win the game. Or we would’ve missed 7 field goals from 40 or 50 yards out to lose. Or we would’ve ran theee plays up the middle all game and caused a lot of three and outs. Or Butch would’ve called time out while we were in rhythm to mess it up. Or his face would’ve turned red, bringing out the energy 🧛*♀️ vampires, screaming at the refs getting a 15 yard penalty, to lose the game.

I watched until I saw Butch. It's like being in a club and seeing your best friend's dad dressed in drag at the bar.

I’ve seen my best friend’s dad at a bar with another woman. Fortunately my best friend hadn’t gotten there yet so we redirected him elsewhere. He wasn’t dressed in drag though (good for all of us). He’s a former Bama player.

If you travel around and visit different campuses, it is really amazing most SEC programs practice almost the same. Videos you see are from just a small portion of practice. There are no secrets in the SEC. Some just have more talent than others.

I'm saying that the players are the #1 factor in a school's success

There are more than enough examples of teams that were elevated simply by a change in coaching, I really can't spell it out any easier for you. No one is denying that you need to recruit at an elite level all the time to stay competing at an elite level, but one team or coach hoarding them for a decade like saban has at a level he has is damn near unprecedented. But you are acting like anyone could walk into the bama job right now and take that team to a natty, and that is just blatantly false.

UT could not have won the O&W game last year.

Wrong. Without a good coach those players don't come to the school and you see a decline like you saw at UT. Based on tour supposition we will never computers and all teams would be stagnant.

Take off those crimson colored glasses. Lots of teams that lose lots of games practice just like Bama.

The players are what sets bama apart. Not practice or whatever. Jones could've coached them to a natty. Look at the recruiting classes year after year

Jones should've coached them to a Natty. The problem is, Jones Can't coach! Our recruiting classes have ranked among the top 10 nationally for years now and the best he could do was a 9 win season! SMH

I never understood the music at practice. Seems like that would be a distraction. Also, there was more walking around at UT practices (after you completed your drill for example) than at my high school practices. Even we were required to jog back to the end of the line.
