Alabama assistant coach arrested for marijuana

18 year olds should be able to drink but it is still illegal and I am sure even Bama has an anti-drug policy. It's a bammer so hoping for the worst and he was providing smoke to players and a huge scandal follows.

Really? My 18 yr old touches alcohol and he won't have to worry about the cops. I will kill him myself.

And hoping for a team's demise in something other then the football field is pretty low IMO. I want to see bama humiliated each and every time we play them. But it ends there, I hope the rest of their lives are full and enjoyable.

Instead of asking for facts you will not believe, do some research and learn about the benefits of marijuana usage and the benefits of the marijuana plant itself. If after reading these facts you still feel the same, more power to you, but don't believe something that others have drilled into your head. Educate yourself. Don't rely on others to think for you. Make your own conclusions and decisions. Our willingness as a country to sit back and let others make choices for us is what has led this nation to its current crises.

Sorry GA. I've said what I wanted and I'll keep the peace. For those who want further discussion, try the politics forum. :hi:

While you are being pious would you be ok with your 18 year old smoking pot?

Well I certainly hope your 18 year old is never robbed of his drive, ambition, and generally friendliness like I've seen happen to my best friend over the last 15 years. I honestly don't care if it is legal or not. Fried chicken probably kills people quicker. However, this idea that pot isn't harmful to impressionable teenagers that have no common sense or will power is laughable.

Will this thread be:

A) Killed entirely?

B) Forum jumped?

C) Forum jumped and merged with an existing pot thread?

Right now, I'm guessing zoned. That would be B for those keeping score.

My experience with it is all the friends I know who go the green route dropped out of school. EVERY ONE OF THEM. Never saw alcohol take somebody's drive like pot. I don't really care what people do or what's legal, that's just what I've seen it do to the people around me.

Are you thinking "around the NCAA forum"?

If you are old enough to vote or to die for your country, you should be old enough to drink.

America is back asswards on the subject, and always will be. We are one of few countries where the age of consent is still 18 and the age to drink is not the same as that age. Most modern cultures are 16 or even 14, and they do pretty well for themselves, the idea of this 18 number is less than a hundred years old and has no historical significance, just another thing we Americans did that doesn't make much sense.

Should be legal anyway and everyone knows it. Anyone who thinks otherwise is not educated on the subject.

I agree it should be legal, but it’s not. I would love to smoke it, but I'm in the Air Force and get drug tested. When you're an adult you have responsibilities. One of those responsibilities, especially when you are part of a high profile organization, is not to do anything to embarrass that organization (or in my case, embarrassing my family by getting a dishonorable discharge). This guy embarrassed his organization, can no longer be trusted by parents on the recruiting trail, and has left Saban with no choice but to let him go.

I think it is perfectly appropriate to discuss marijuana in a thread in the football forum about a bammercoach being arrested for possession of "less than a gram" of marijuana.

Funny, the validictorian of my HS class was also one of the biggest potheads. Graduated with a 4.0, which was as high(haha) as it got back then. I've known many very intelligent, successful people that smoked dope. Supposedly, George Washington and Thomas Jefferson grew and used marijuana. They were very intelligent men. Responsibility should be placed upon a person, not a drug. If they had no drive to begin with, why blame marijuana from stealing it from them. People look to shift blame rather than admitting to fault.

No. Could be an option as well as a merge in the politics thread(though doubtful because the tone there is so different), but this has zone written all over it. Plus mods love feeding us these kinds of things. It serves as a lesson to some.

Sorry GA, I guess I lied, but I'm done for the night so my behavior will be good. Can't be bad if I'm not here.

The fact of the matter is that our version of checks and balances forces the process of change to work slowly. We sometimes struggle accepting when longstanding laws are proven unconstitutional. People grow up a certain way, learn certain things, and develop certain values. New evidence and technology may contradict these traditions, but educating everyone takes more time and lags behind. In this country adapting laws cannot always keep up with science and research. This isn't a bad thing, because usually longstanding laws are longstanding for a reason. Also its what protects our nation from making spontaneous, impulsive, and irrational laws... Theoretically, at least. In actuality prohibition was spontaneous, impulsive, and irrational.

When exactly did I say I would be ok with my children smoking pot? Its a medicine and can be abused like any other medicine. The fact of the matter is, there are people out there with legitimate medical issues that marijuana can help with.. and a hell of a lot safer then things currently used to treat them. If you think for one second that those low will power and impressionable teenagers you talk about won't go and abuse other more dangerous things your the one who is laughable... or have you never seen anyone strung out on legal pain pills that have much worse side effects? And also have the chance of overdosing and actually causing death?

Use your brains a little...

Since you seem to remember so much, how about you let us know how many people die a year from drunk driving vs high driving. Or you could just "educate" us in general how weed is any worse than alcohol. I will enjoy watching you fail miserably at this

The government can regulate alcohol, they can't do the same for marijuana.

The amount makes absolutely no difference. If caught a couple hours earlier I'm sure it would have been more.

I can't wait to see how nick saTan handles this mess, LOL.

Now they should drug test every coach and player in the alaBummer program just to see where things really stand.

This could get interesting.

VFL...GBO!!!
