One of the biggest of many indictments on Butch is how far away we are from being competitive with Bama...forget about winning the game....That to me is a HUGE indictment on Butch. We should at least be narrowing the gap in year 5...but the gap has grown wider and wider. I feel bad for Butch....and horrible for all the students, fans and boosters. It's just a bad situation. Butch...gawd bless him...tries but coaching is so dang important. The talent gap is not that wide between us and Georgia...marginal at best...but yet they come in to Neyland and spank us 41-0? THAT is so unacceptable. It really is a fireable result almost on it's own...without any of the other stuff.

This may be the most damning projection of all in this thread. When Nationdom says "we take it deep into the 4th". That means they may hang 100 on us.

Not that anyone needs a further dose of depression. How many years has Nick Saban LITERALLY take his foot off the gas against the Vols to keep from even worse embarrassment?

By my count that is 6 of 10 years where we not just soundly beaten, but embarrassed like a FCS school trying to get into FBS and taking a beating for a payday.

Honestly Nick Saban has been merciful. Actually, he's been wise. Hang 70 or 80 and you may steel enough resolve to wake the sleeping giant. Take your foot off the gas and pat em on the head and we just go back to sleep.
