see, i think it is a big deal. you're overhauling the roster, every spot is important. you don't get this spot back if you swing and miss.
there's better pitches to swing on than this i think.

in the end, if no one is sure he will qualify, or are fairly confident he won't qualify, we'll all be recruiting him again in a year anyway.....so i'd be inclined to let someone else waste the initial counter on this year's class if they so desire.

If the choice is between Pickens and Henry To its a no brainer. But VQ has said that they would take 24 if they thought that they could land Pickens. So, we still get Wright and the 2 linebackers if they want in. This is a 4th spot that we make solely for the purpose of Pickens who would come here and impact day 1 in a big way. He could be our Ross at Clemson. He's said to be that special. If he wants in, and you think you can get him in, you take him. period.

my only point was the choice isn't going to be Pickens or Robinson. if pickens isn't on the table to even consider, and we do get wright, toototo, russell, then i don't know they even take another "guy" in this class.

if pickens is on the table, they have make a call on whether or not to risk it.

i'm telling you what i would do. i think if pickens is real, they probably take him. he is good, and we don't have anyone right now that compares to him athletically at WR. that's not really up for debate in my mind. it's the risk management aspect that is.

me personally, i'm not convinced he can get in. and if he can't, and he goes Juco, there's a better than average chance he never sets foot on UT's campus.....but there's a spot with his name on it that you can't get back....and if you do sign those other three AND pickens, then you've likely used a spot on next year's class to do that.

and that would suck.

if he goes juco, there's just no guarantee he sticks with us. he still takes the spot as an initial counter, and he's free to be recruited again and sign again whereever he wants to go later on.

i'll say this, if he wants to sign, and you don't let him, you better be pretty much 100% positive there's no way to get him in.

Well, now even if they sign they can enter the transfer portal the next week.

Here's a question. If we take and sign him, he doesn't qualify goes juco then does come back, does he count twice against the 25 limit? Once in 2019 and then when he comes back?

I'm kidding...Kinda...
