With all due respect to AW , He wasn't playing much better if IIRC. On one pass he was responsible for the tight end on a delayed type route. AW was not within 5 yards of the guy and he made the catch and rambled for another 6 or so yard. IIRC it was a third down play as well. It was on about our 30 yard line. Memphis scored on that drive. All of that happened right in front of me and I remember it well. Of course NO ONE had any right to cuss anyone out during that game. There was enough bad to go around for everyone. It was like the entire team was running in quick sand. And we were still trying to establish the run in the fourth quarter.

The center that game got destroyed all game long

Brent Gibson. He got destroyed in the Florida game too. He was already overwhelmed one-one-one and Stoops exploited that weakness in our offense by blitzing The Freak and stunting linemen through the middle. Every play was a jailbreak.

I was there in Memphis that miserable day. Fulmer was going to run the ball come hell or high water. Took a 3 TD better teaand played right into Memphis hands.
I was there to and we were simply out coached that day. PM would look the defense over then call the play, then Memphis’s D would shift into the perfect set to stop the play. Then we had no time to change our minds. We ran what they knew was coming and they shut our run game down. Plus the whole team quitting on the punt return didn’t help. Al was mad, I get it, but he took it out on the wrong one.

Yeah every single player on our team took that loss....It was a pathetic display of football and NO ONE including AW has a right to go off on anyone. That game and the Wyoming game were two games when i left the stadium I felt like my TEAM had let me down. Been to hundreds of games and those two felt like no other to me.

I will get blasted for this, but Al Wilson is overrated and sat out with an “injury” during the most important season in Modern Tennessee football history. Real leaders don’t keep theirselves on the sideline like that. Real leaders don’t have that constant “look at me I’m a leader” attitude.

Taylor has a good season playing on a freakin broke leg and Toto played his senior season of football with a broken foot. Meanwhile, Al abandoned his team and spent most of the season drinking Gatorade from the best seats in the house for free. He did the same in the NFL. Sorry , but he is full of BS.

I wish we had more overrated players that were consensus First team All-Americans.

Why would you expect to get blasted?

My son broke both bones in his right wrist, could not function. When he broke his left arm he was calm, cool and collected when he told me it was broke. Every break is different.

My foot was hurting so I went to the Dr. the X-ray said my 4th medal tarsal(Foot bone to ring toe.) was broke. He ask how the other break was treated, I wasn’t aware of the other one. He asked if I was some kind of a tough guy. I didn’t have a good answer at the time, but I guess the answer is, “Obviously.”.

When I dislocated my shoulder playing basketball, there was no doubt in my mind my situation at the time had to change. On the way home we stopped at the ER to get checked out. While adjusting my arm for the X-ray, my shoulder slid back in place. All pain was gone, I was back in business. Wrong! Sure, I left the ER, with no bill. When I got back to my truck and was driving myself home I reached up either to scratch my head or test my shoulder, bam, it jumped back out causing my neck to spasm throwing my head back to the rear glass of my truck. Once again, dislocated. When I made it home I adjusted my arm the same way I did at the ER with the same results, my shoulder slid back in place. So now I do things different to avoid that pain again. It’s my bad shoulder. Nothing rotator cuff surgery shouldn’t be able to fix. Whose got time for that?

Wasn’t Al’s injury a dislocated shoulder?

Teammates have every right to get in the ear of their teammates, even if they haven’t played a perfect game.

Overrated? You need to come up with a better reason than how he handled injury to validate that point. If it wasn’t his shoulder, I’m sorry I wasted your time.

We would have won that game with instant replay. The MSU punt returner's knee was down.
You say that. We didn’t get a fumble recovery against Ky one year when it was an obvious fumble by them that we recovered. They were driving and then ended up scoring a TD.

The review said they fumbled and recovered it. I can’t remember how early or late in the game it was. I think 2012 was the year.

I was sorta reminded of that game during the GA. ST. game last year......

Didn't we just barely beat Memphis at Neyland the following year on a late-game 80yd bomb from Tee to Cedrick Wilson? (or David Martin?) I think we just had a hard time getting up for Tiglet High.
