Akron Look-a-Likes.....

Speaking of CAS, any of you old timers remember the wrestler Ron “warp you head off” Wright.
Ron & Don Wright.....wow. The guy that used to cut my hair ( Magnolia Avenue) was a part-time wrestler. He was friends with Ron Wright. Occasionally Ron would be at his salon and I got to talk to him. He was very nice and funny when he wasn't performing. I was a teen and thought it was so cool. A bunch of us used to climb the fence at Chilhowee Park and sneak into the wrestling matches.....lol

Some of these are funny but many of them are demeaning and totally in bad taste. You should be ashamed of yourselves

I know right! That one picture comparing an Akron player to Kareem Abdul-Jabbar was completely uncalled for!

Cas was quite the entrepreneur. Located his stores in lower social settings. Would cash your welfare check in a heartbeat. Those communities loved him. Not a racist, but remember those cute black kids eating watermelon. Try to get that commercial on TV today.
“Thumping good” watermelon jingle and the easel with the specials of the week were like a parody of local TV commercials. But you are right, the guy was an entrepreneur - I think he had a line of “railroad salvage” stores that were just barely a notch above flea markets.
