AJ "The Beast" Johnson

I remember everyone at least thinking he was deserving of a 4. Poor kid had noone to lead him out there and was playing out of position wearing Adidas clown shoes like clausen.

Look forward to seeing him play in this D, instead of teams spreading us out and putting AJ in the flat with no help against the rb.

All he is saying is that good for freshmen does not equal good compared to all the other SEC linebackers.

then what he is saying is foolish because he would have started on over half the teams in the SEC last year

I'm not really the type to call somebody foolish because I've made speculations that aren't at all supported by any tangible evidence, and they're different from his speculations.

You do what you want, though.

Sounds below average to me.

Couple of things: First, Maggitt looked faster and better adjusted on TV. AJ looked a little heavy footed at times but these halls and those on other sites say he has adjusted his body from HS to the SEC a little more in the off-season--which should be expected. Second, their play was probably at an average SEC level but the secondary struggled early and often last year especially with no Jackson in the backfield. I never got the sense UT played very aggressive on defense under Wilcox and that's the one major difference I expect to see out of the 'D' this year under Sunseri. I think they will be improved and more aggressive even under the new system. I think the extent of this will be dependent on how well the secondary plays because we will probably be prone to giving up big plays--especially early in the season.

Lastlly, let's hope we stay reasonably healthy.

Look harder. This thread is littered with them. I'll give you a hint: it's the crowd falling all over themselves to be positive or to be loudest in shouting down those who would say a team that missed a bowl might have sucked.
