Aj Johnson Update (Kind of) <<< [NO ACTUAL UPDATE]

Nothing will happen to the accuser... other than collecting $200K from the civil suit.

Bowles will go on with his life. We'll never really know who said what to whom, when or why.

AJ is unlikely to go to jail... and is equally unlikely to resume a successful football career.

UT will have to fight the stigma of cultivating "a culture of rape" for many years to come-- despite no evidence to support such a claim.

People lie. The legal system doesn't always work. Right doesn't always prevail. Sometimes, there is no justice. This might be one of those times.

Very easy to find her if put together pieces in this thread IF (big IF) that's who the accuser is.

I've heard the opposite about AJ from each person I've spoken to who has knowledge of his transgressions. I can't repeat the alleged conversations and subsequent actions because I'm on a work computer and would rather not get fired, but when numerous people all have an almost identical story about their encounters with him, I'm inclined to believe them.

As for the Gibblets, yhea those exist. There aren't as many as you'd expect though. Girls aren't just lined up for the taking.

Well how about when you get home you humor us a little with your knowledge of AJ Johnsons personality.

I don't disagree in terms of giving advice to him ex ante, but that doesn't mean you have to accept injustice when it happens. Your attitude seems pretty flippant about, "Ah, well, life's not fair." That's true, but it doesn't mean that people should just be cool with unfairness.

People shouldn't be cool with unfairness, but they still have to understand the risk they are taking. The US legal system was designed to move slow. This is to protect the defendant and give them enough time to examine all the evidence and avoid mistakes due to haste. This was designed in contrast to the English show trials that were rushed so the populace's list for punishment and revenge would be filled quickly, no matter the guilt or innocence. The problem with a slow moving case is it doesn't take into account time sensitive things like a player's limited college eligibility and the NFL's age window.

If you are involved in something that is time sensitive then you should avoid the legal system 100%. Also he knew the NFL had started to come down hard on violence against women as they market more to females. How stupid can you be to put yourself in a situation where you give so much control over your future to a girl that won't even leave her boyfriend for you. Then you hook up with her at a party where there are people that know him. Stupid all around

I agree with you. It's just that your post is what would be called "victim-blaming." I totally agree that AJ should be smart about the situations he puts himself in... but at some level, it's still not ultimately his fault if he's wrongly accused of something. And to that point, somebody who IS very careful can still be wrongly accused--which is all the more reason for us to care if AJ is getting screwed, even if AJ himself put himself in a risky spot.

Idk ab our legal system being slow to protect the defendant. Many defendants, AJ incl, suffer during this time whether it be mental distress or if it means they don't have the means to bond out and have to sit in ja until proven innocent. Our system is guilty until proven innocent and dragging out the legal process hurts the defendant far more often than it helps them.

I may be off base and if so the mods can remove this. But, after doing some googling I wonder if religion played a part in the shame element of this.

If religion wasn't the culprit then it must of been either Obama or global warming!

Couldn't be that she had gotten herself to some degree less than fully sober then got her freak on. After she sobered up maybe she thought differently about the situation.

It could be that simple of course but I was just posing a question. I'm not an anti religion type.

But a person can only take that so far. What kind of person would ruin someone's life just to save a little face? If that is the case, they should lock her up and throw away the key. While they are at it, the DA should be dis-barred.

It happens far, far more often then most of you know. Bc of a sence of quilt or regret, a mans life is ruined while the female normally pays no repercussions.

Wow, this fan base sure is jumping on this article. You guys realize this article is reporting the information from the "appeal". In other words, all the information here is from AJ's legal team, and from this article, they are trying to sway public opinion against the girl. Of course they are going to look innocent when you hear one side of the case only. I'm holding off on judgement until there is an actual judgment of the appeal, and even then.

There doesn't even need to be a trial for anyone with an ounce of common sense. The fact that both these girls magically lost their cell phones at the same time means that they are worthless, lying b***hes and are trying to cover something up. They deserve to have their names drug through the mud and publicly humiliated.

One of my best friends used to "hang out" with him as well, actually not too long before this incident happened. She says there's absolutely no way he raped that girl.Too nice of a guy, honestly a very respectful guy, not to mention the fact that if you're a star football player at UT, especially one that is going to be drafted, you don't have to rape girls to get what you want. They literally had girls called "Gibbletts" that would hang around Gibbs hall just to sleep with the athletes. Just stating facts here.

Also, as we all know this girl was dating Drae Bowles. He picked her up outside the party at the Woodlands (also knew people at that party; said no way AJ did that. Too many people, and she was being pretty friendly at the party too). So according to the police report, an ambulance picked her up at Vol Hall and drove her to UT medical center. If you know the geography of Knoxville, you know that it makes no sense to pick up someone from the Woodlands, drive them to the Fort, just to have an ambulance come pick you up and take you just a quarter mile from where you just were! (University Medical Center and the Woodlands are down the road from each other and are also on the opposite side of the river from Vol Hall.None of it makes sense. AJ got screwed big time.

THIS!!!! all. day. long.

As we're getting ready for the bowl game I happened to think back to beating Kentucky and becoming bowl elidgable for the first time in a few years. This made me think about AJ. Does anybody have any updated info on the situation?

I feel like a lot of people packed his story in with the Title IX stuff and when all that was over they all just moved on.

They won't take any action against the accuser, that's not the world we're living in today.

What you gonna get out of her? She has no money, her family is not subject to a judgment. the settlement amount she will end up from the UT suit is a drop in the bucket compared to what it would cost to attempt to recover damages. AJ has a strong case but just not enough $ there to warrant it.

Bowles will look like a fool but this will never get the media attention that CM hitting him did. Those of us who took the time to read the reports by police, investigators, etc knew the story all along. Unfortunately, many just read the media agenda reports which were very misleading.

Should a judge allow a defense a look at the accuser's digital media chatter before and after the alleged crime? It could be revealing--but it could also work against genuine rape victims as view if any women are going to go on social media and scream "i was raped!" after an event. Some might not say anything, some might pass off a rape as something otherwise, the point being that nobody is eager to announce that they've been assaulted, and so in that sense social media could be prejudicial to the plaintiff's case.

That said, if there is proof that Johnson and the accuser spent time together in previous months, or had sex multiple times in previous months, then I'd think that most prosecutors would be loath to pursue a rape case. Are we to assume that this information is only now being brought forward by the defense? How long as it been since the arrest--a year and a half? Longer?

I mean technically he may still have eligibility left I guess if he wanted to get back into playing shape but I could be wrong

Believe he lives here in Crossville now. He was at the last CCHS football game this year and is looking at becoming an assistant coach at the high school level. SUPPOSEDLY the case is almost finished and he is being looked at by the Patriots and a couple of other teams once everything is settled. Hopefully it works out for him.
