AJ Johnson can't catch a break

Likely AJ did catch a break, he's probably done this before and not got caught. He's blessed to have been caught asleep at a light instead of taking someone's life while driving under the influence. Just stop making bad decisions and your life will get better.

Not sure if I should blame him for being an idiot or feel badly for him for being a victim of the culture we, as fans, help to perpetuate.

It's the first one. Losers blame culture and society, and the only people who listen to that crap are called enablers.

If you want to include yourself in that BS "we" group, have at it. Leave the rest of us out of it.

Man, and all this time I thought Antonio Callaway was a knucklehead with NFL talent who made poor decisions off the field.

Little did I know he simply can't catch a break.

Thanks OP! :)
It was a figure of speech meaning "make a good decision". Sorry if you perceived it differently. The guy was set to be an NFL millionaire and was a virtual God during his time as a Vol until he screwed up. Now, due to his poor decisions, all of that is gone and he is left with virtually no future.

This would be a good time to point out that he hasn't been convicted of anything yet. He will have his day(s) in court.

Sorry but having a drunken MMF threesome whether it's sexual assault or not is a poor decision especially when you have an NFL future. You walk a guarded line with everything, people you associate with, and every action.

Clearly a showed poor judgement, but unless you know him, I wouldn't be calling his character into question. He made a mistake, we all have.
Sure replace character with any word you want, but the point remains the same. Which is more towards a post vs. what AJ did.

After a buddy of mine got DUI charge he told people his record was about 3000-1. That's probably how it is for most people who get pinched. In the age of Uber and Lyft there isn't much excuse.

A mistake is made unknowingly. A.J didn't "mistakenly" get drunk & high and then get into a vehicle. He did it because he chose to do it. That's not a mistake. That's someone using extremely poor judgement. Everyone uses poor judgement from time to time but if it becomes a pattern with someone, then that person has character issues.

This isn't about catching a break, this is about stupidity. I am on his side concerning the rape allegations but this is indefensible. AJ needs to gets his life in order.

Agreed. No one is perfect, but some folks never learn from their mistakes. AJ seems to fit that category.

How do we know he wasn't doing same stuff before the rape charge?

Drug tests are performed on players and we all know that UT will dismiss a player unlike other SEC team's if they fail multiple tests. Plus, I'd say if Johnson tested positive for anything it would have been or will be reported in court filings. I know in the Vandy rape case prosecution had access to Batey failing drug tests there and that's a private institution.

That said very poor decision on his part. Nobody to blame but himself.

Please tell me which culture it is that you fell badly for? I do feel bad that he was unjustly accused of rape, and she should be imprisoned. But in this case, what culture that we as fans perpetuate, caused him to drink, drive and spoke pot?

Wasn't there drug and alcohol use involved in the alleged rape incident as well? If so that my be the cause of his poor decisions.

If cancer researchers put the same energy pot users put into beating a urine drug screen, that disease would be cured by now. That is why more and more companies make their employees take a hair test.

I have not read the actual reports, but rumors of alcohol being consumed and plant substances being burned have been linked to that incident, as well as the birthday party that got raided at the same location a few months prior to that night.

But the cause of his poor decisions is not thinking. I know of several people who get drunk and smoke weed, but they don't drive when they do it, and they go somewhere remote where cops never come. You can count the number of people who know about the party and location on both hands (usually one), and nobody leaves until the sun rises.

There's a difference between .08 or .05 and .15 or others. I'm no DR or lawyer but I know the bars and such serve ppl that they know are driving and if the police wanted to they could arrest half the ppl driving home from games. I've watched State troopers steer drunks out off NASCAR races at Bristol and Talladega

So......everyone's fault except his?
