So will they release their findings today?
Grand Juries meet on Tuesdays.
Here's a quick summary for those out of the loop:
Accusations made-->Rape kit administered-->search warrants based on those results meaning a reasonable basis to believe a crime could have occurred exists.
Police investigation-->evidence gathered, interviews conducted, no charges filed. There is not enough physical evidence to file charges.
Investigation wrapped-->Case moved to the DA. The DA believes there is enough evidence that a crime might be been committed to bring potential charges before a grand jury to examine the physical evidence and victim/witness testimonies.
That brings us to the current state of affairs. Supposedly, the grand jury was to hear the case today (Tuesday 12/2). I would expect that, since the police did not have enough to charge, if it only takes one hearing, no charges will be filed. We could know that by tonight or tomorrow,
IF that is the case.
If things are messy (as they appear to be with two alleged perpetrators, one victim of alleged forcible rape, another not pressing charges but having possibly witnessed the event), this will most likely take more than one hearing.
IF that is the case, it will most likely be next week at the earliest of charges are filed or the accused will be cleared.
