AJ Johnson Accused of Sexual Assault

As some of you kniw i talk to the staff quite often. The story i got was that AJ has text etc that the girl wanted to have sex. The catch 22 is she was Dre Bowles girlfriend. The girl is what the players call a jump off and hasbhad sex with like 10-15 guys on the team. Dre supposedly told the chick if she didn't call the police they'd break up. Then when his team mates caught word of it several tried to jump him. In the heat if this Butch kept him away frombthe team. Then he was allowed to come back. The Mike Williams part was he invited himhimself in to the action.

Considering then report above in the "AJ NEWS" thread that the charge is heading to a Grand Jury...I'd venture to say no, at this point...but...I'm not a lawyer...ALTHOUGH I DID play one on TV...

Prediction: When all this shakes down and the truth starts leaking out, Drae will be one of the most unpopular players in UT history. Bank on it

After these last two games, I am missing AJ really bad! I know our defense is more than just one player but I think we are really missing our defense captain. Maggit has done a good job but not having AJ is huge. Hopefully this will work out this week and AJ can rejoin the team before bowl game along with other players out with injuries. I know we would all love to see this season go out on a high note. A girl can dream!!!!

This. Being without our experienced defense captain has had a major effect. Having that leader on the field making sure players know where they're supposed to be and are supposed to go is huge! The play tonight where Vandy ran straight up the A gap with not a Vol in sight is indicative of this.

AJ has put himself before the team. He should have never put himself in a situation like this and it has really killed the momentum of the team. He made great improvements on the field but guess he couldn't translate it off the field.

Really? I mean, really? So a college male had sex with someone, and (presuming it was consensual), that's putting himself before the team? You must've been one lonely dude in college, because I remember what myself and everyone else I know was up to. Climb down off the high horse, you'd have done it too (consensually, of course).

Okay, let's put aside the fact that Johnson is still an identified rape suspect in an ongoing criminal investigation. He betrayed his team by messing around with a teammate's girlfriend in the middle of the night in an apartment with drugs in it. That's the best case scenario, assuming that nobody actually got raped or sexually assaulted.

While I completely agree that it ain't cool to bump uglies with your buddy's girl...they're teammates. And on opposite sides of the ball. There's 100+ of them and they ain't all best pals opposed to what some people seem to think a team is.. in reality it just doesn't work that way. So a good looking girl, who, by rumor has a past with AJ wants to go for another round..and he did it. You'd have done it, I'd have done it...its the way it is. He and Drae may barely know each other.

Now, the drugs business...it was a pot grinder for heaven's sake. And yes, being a high profile athlete would lead you to think about whether or not you smoke a little green. Problem there is that most of them do, and most college students do. It just is what it is. I did, my friends did, most of the people that weren't my friends that I were around did. Pot was everywhere (and this was the early 90s) then and I'm sure it is now. Hardly a major crime, even if it is a misdemeanor.

In summary, if these allegations are false (and I hope they are), then telling AJ to bear the cross up the hill is ridiculous. If they're true, throw the book at his a$$ and then resent him for being a rapist. But don't get ahead of yourself passing judgment on him for getting naked and freaky with a teammates girl. It's bad practice, sure...but c'mon...they're probably not best buds or much more than acquaintances.

I thought about that also when it first came out, but then I thought there are 80+ guys. No way you know every girlfriend of every teammate. So, hopefully that is just the case.

Well he put himself in a situation where he could, and was, accused of forcible rape. So, yes, he was not thinking about the team and should not have been in that situation at this point in the season. The grand jury is meeting on it Tuesday, we don't get to speed up the system just because he's a football player.
