If his response to her accusation had been "I didn't have sex with her" rather than "I had sex with her, but it was consensual", I can almost guarantee you he'd be playing this Saturday.

I have no idea how anyone could say a 22 year old college kid getting laid is putting himself in a bad situation? Just because he's a football player or a public figure doesn't mean he shouldn't have consensual sex with a woman over 18. That's not putting himself in a bad situation at all. Period. That's just a college kid having sex.

However, being out partying at 3 AM when you are a public figure IS putting yourself in a bad situation. Does that mean he shouldn't drink or party? Nope, again he's of age and he's in college. He has to be smart though and know where the line is. He's an athlete, he needs to take care of his body meaning he needs to rest and not pound the booze. A few beers or a few cocktails at a bar or club celebrating a win is cool, bar/club/party hopping until 3 AM and then presumably driving home intoxicated is really poor judgement and immature. He also is a public figure so even if it wasn't a rape charge it could have easily been a DUI or another facilitating underage drinking or even just some embarrassing pictures that wind up on the internet. Either way he needs to be so much smarter.

And it is not my standard either. It is the standard placed on players by accepting a Tennessee football helmet. They are no longer just board posters at that point but become the public face of the University of Tennessee. You're saying that they should just behave in whatever way their hormones urge them to...no need for any self control?

Yes and I am not even taking the moral high road here. What he had the ability or opportunity to do was obviously beyond what he had the capability to keep under control. Either himself or the situation.

No he would not be playing and he may not play another down as a Volunteer. Innocent or guilty.

I disagree. The investigation would already be over, with no charges filed.

The only reason this is hanging open is because the police were handed a he-said/she-said. Without the sex, there is no investigation.

One party says one thing, another says the opposite. Result = investigation as soon as she called it rape. What do you want him to do lie.

Regardless of any accusation we are at the same point we are now. Outcry of Rape, AJ gets suspension by CBJ until the investigation is cleared up. Nothing changes.

He cannot state I did not have sex with her if he did. Did you rape her? No. Well we have a girl that says you raped her and we are going to have to investigate.

We are still where we are and nothing would change.

You are a little off base here and naive? Maybe I am reading your statement wrong, but regardless if she cried rape there was always going to be an investigation whether or not AJ answered the question.

The only reason. No....Title IX would have kicked in to investigate if charges were dismissed and they would be obligated to do an investigation.
