You said, "It's a gf, not his wife..." that statement does not infer anything along the lines of it being "none of our business."

While a group of guys has a "code of conduct" where you don't get with your friends girl... you definitely don't convince the girl to file rape charges to get back at the guy for getting with your girl.

You just dump her @ss and then fight it out. Fight settles it, you're done.

And I've seen probably 4 or 5 instances of what this is rumored to be from HS through college. It's extremely common. People get really jilted and do some nasty stuff. Never saw a rape charge filed but I did see a kid try to plant a bowie knife in the other guys locker to set him up. People do some crazy stuff when they're lovedrunk or jealous.

So if this is all how it went down and the team found out that Bowles, a nobody, set up AJ who is a team leader because Bowles' feelings got hurt? Yeah, I can expect members of the team to be violent towards him.

But especially given the fact that Bowles' locker is cleaned out means, to me, something went down.

But, I'll say again before some idiot drops a SJWbomb on me. If AJ/MW raped this girl legitimately, they should be crucified.

99% of the time, all the rumors aren't true. Bowles is a kid of extremely high character. If he was in anyway involved in this, I feel that he had reason to believe that he was doing the right thing.

I'm not saying the two are guilty, just that Bowles was led to believe this was the right thing IF indeed this is true.

This is a tough situation for everyone involved. I am no insider , but I am an investigator by trade . A couple of things really stand out here . When the police show up at any alleged assault , especially a boy vs girl assault , if one person has evidence of assault ( scratch , bruise , blemish , serious injury ) then the police arrest the other person on the spot ( usually the guy ) . The evidence of injury is probable cause , and they make the arrest also as a 'cooling off period' so the situation does not escalate after they leave. . No arrest was made which tells me that there was no evidence of assault . They could have also made the arrest if a witness made a statement describing the assault ...this would also be probable cause.

I am not sure if the female went to the hospital and had a rape kit performed, but I would assume that she did given her report and accusation to the police. If the medical examination showed any signs of rape ...the police would have made an arrest based on probable cause.

The cops will not hesitate to make an arrest if they have probable cause . An arrest is not a conviction, so its no sweat to arrest a person and then gather evidence .

This lack of arrest makes me believe that the evidence is scant .

Look, I don't know what took place this week, nor does anyone else. I have said this in numerous threads now, but Drae Bowles is a kid of outstanding character. If this stuff is remotely true, I feel that Bowles felt he was doing what needed to be done.

Not saying the two are guilty, just that I feel he was led to believe by the girl(s) that something took place that shouldn't have. I'm just tired of seeing people bash this kid, when he has done nothing but show character in his time here.

You are completely right, I will not argue that. We definitely do all fall short. I'm just tired of seeing people bash this kid when they don't know what took place.

If anyone other than AJ or another star player had been involved we would be praising him for doing the right thing.

And in no way am I saying he is guilty.

Honestly, if your girlfriend told you that someone raped her, wouldn't you do the same thing? The only possible deviation would be if I decided to go vigilante. I don't really understand how any of this reflects poorly on Bowles except that he either has poor taste in teammates or poor taste in women depending on who's telling the truth. It certainly doesn't sound like he did anything wrong to me.

And aj hasn't? His one "issue" was getting into a fight defending a woman who was just hit by the guy he got in a fight with. Hardly an issue. I'm sorry. It just doesn't add up in my mind.

Again, I never once said AJ was guilty. Just that I believe Bowles had to be led to believe something took place. As the previous poster said, wouldn't you believe your girlfriend (if this is what she is like everyone claims)? If this involved anyone other than the star player, we would all be praising Bowles.

The fact that Bowles will be on the sideline this Saturday makes me question whether any of this is even true. No way he would be out there if the whole team had turned on him as some suggest.

If it was me I would have gone to AJ and asked him what happened and then gone to my girlfriend and ask her why she was with AJ in the first place. Evidently she being on the UT women's rowing team made her take an interest in AJ as well as Bowles. Something is not right in Denmark.

That is because of the other things Winston has done.. his personality matches the crime.. the crab meat incident, yelling extremely vulgar things in a student council meeting..and you can just tell in the kids interviews, he is the type of guy who thinks his poo does not stink and he can do whatever he wants.. and his coaches and the administration at that school let him get away with it all in the name of football.

There is a big difference between believing AJ in innocent when he was immediately suspended from team activities, and condemning FSU for doing absolutely nothing and enabling Winston to keep up his same behavior.

The two are not even remotely similar. I do not think anyone around here was sitting here saying that winston was definitely guilty because no one around here knew enough or even cared whether he was or not. It was the way the school handled Winston from the start with multiple infractions that were proven true that everyone is all over FSU about. The school is a joke, and the NCAA and media let them get away with it, all in the name of trying to prove a school outside of the SEC can win a NC.

Well they can, but not without a lot of shady happening's going on...

All this "Bowles' gf" stuff: I'm pretty sure that's something that took off here. What was originally said was that she was a friend. That's it. I really hope that if this had happened to a friend of my son when he was in college, that he would have done exactly the same: supported a friend in time of trouble.

And shame on those teammates who went after him. Sounds like the real-life version of some VN reaction. I guess it wasn't all of them, since he's playing Saturday.

I suppose in the end, this winds up being a teachable moment in a tragic situation. Doing the right thing at the right time for the right reason...
