Does anyone else think this guy played a really unselfish and commanding game at UGA?

I can't remember, and please correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think he threw any passes in the Red ("Orange", I suppose) Zone? He just seems to care less about his stats, and more about his own team.


And I do think he does look quite a bit like Manning. Now, I'm not saying he is exactly like Manning, but his command of the team and the play changes at the line remind me very much of him. Also, very few dump passes... but the deep game still has yet to be seen.


Thoughts?

I think he was happy to have a running game. He will have to light it up in some other games if we are going to win the East.

he played extremely well in my opinion, and also, as you said, a very unselfish game. that is exactly what we need. a guy who can throw for 300 yards and 3 TDs, but who is also very happy with throwing for 150 and 0 TD in a big win

How does his pinky take to heal up? I think our offense does not go deep partly because he still tapes his fingers. Any thoughts??

I honestly think that is why we haven't yet. Cutcliffe is probably asking him how it feels on deep passes, and unless he feels he has total control, we won't even try it. And the pinky should be completely good for the Bama game, if not the MSU game.


All it takes is for a deep pass to be off 1 foot, and it's an INT. Look at the deep passes against us this year, make any of those anything less than a perfect pass, and it's intercepted. Also, he's back in the pocket for longer, and has a higher chance to get hit. He was playing without a brace and there was no reason to risk it, given the running game and the score.


If that is the frame of thought, I completely support it.

Thats exactly the difference between Ainge today and Ainge in 2004 as big time freshman QB. I heard reports that he let his success in 2004 go to his head a little bit. But since DC has returned, I have seen a whole different Ainge.

DC deserves the kudos....but then with 2 Mannings starting in the NFL and a former MNC winning QB in Martin, we shouldn't expect any less.

I can only remember one really poor call on his part...the pass to Brown...other than that it was one helluva game by EA.

Ainge continues to be the rock of this team. Game in and game out - he's been steady.

I was under the impression that the pinky would not really heal until he stopped throwing the ball on a regular basis, i.e. after the season. Don't know where I read that, though. If you recall, originally this was to be about a 4 week deal. We are beyond that and it is stilll affecting him.

Ainge is 26th nationally in passing efficiency. Tebow is 3rd and Woodson is 14th. The next closest SEC player is 53rd or so (Seth Adams at Ole Miss).

Ainge played great, he looks good with the no huddle, and seems to be making the right calls when he changes plays.

Cut's done wonders.

That was a stupid play all the way around. We have all the burners and even have a giant at the other TE position, and they send the short strong guy down the sideline that can't jump?

Yeah and Fulmer was about 10 yards out on the field screaming at him after that play too. I enjoy the ass chew a little more than the hand clap.

I hear Manning also had some big heart to hearts with him after 2005 about his off the field dress and attitude. Seems he went for the sparkle Deion Sanders look but Manning told him, if he wants to compete and be successful later he needed to go low key.

You're partly correct. That was DC getting on Ainge. When Ainge was talking to Manning, Manning said "just listen to him and take in everything he says. He knows what he's talking about."
