Ainge's Apology

Nice apology, but I blame the loss on those horrible orange pants. They could have at least had white stripes.

Brown's comment was interesting about rather having Ainge try to make something happen than just throwing the ball away. sounds like us.

glad he took responsibility, glad he didn't shy away. glad there's no excuses.

but it still doesn't make it feel any better. and as much as i do truly hate it for him, his legacy will be remembered for what happened on the biggest stage with the game on the line.

for all those that say EA has no leadership qualities, I think those were just squashed with this article, not to mention his performance in the last two games that got us here. But they were still bad decisions to make those two passes and I know I'll have a hard time forgetting them.

i guess the reason the article says "almost to a man" is because demonte bolden went off running his mouth like the D has been stout all year long?

"I never punched the right buttons." said Coach Cut. That makes me more mad than Ainge. Cut should know what to do and something needs to be done to make him punch the right buttons, whatever the heck that means

It's good to see everyone take blame for the loss. Cutcliffe took the blame. Foster and Fulmer put the blame on the whole team etc...

Ultimately though let's be honest, just like last years bowl game when Foster fumbled and PSU returned it for a touchdown, Ainges 2 ints cost us the game or at least a good shot at winning.

I have no hard feelings about it. It is not like he did it on purpose. Hopefully he will go out on a high note in the bowl game.

Keep your head up Erik

go vols

When a game is played on a razor's edge as this one was, it is always going to be the one time someone blinked that will be remembered. Tennessee played above it's head in this game. I salute the effort.

Now we go recruit, and get the youth ready to answer next season's bell.

This season was about inevitability in the end.

Ainge is arguably the second greatest QB to play for the Vols. It's a shame that this game is what he'll be remembered for.

I honestly don't even think it's arguable.

I'd put P.M., Casey, Heath, Tee, Andy Kelley and maybe Condredge Holloway and Tony Robinson in front of him.

Ainge could have been grouped with Manning and Dodd in terms of greatness on the Hill, but him blowing the SEC title game has ruined his legacy. He could set a NCAA record for TD passes vs Wisconsin and it still wouldn't matter.

there are at least 2 other QB's I would take before EA. I don't mean that negative but he's not in my top 3.

On a side note, I sat just below a box that had Tee and CBP in it. Was great to see Tee and Bruce leading cheers for the fball team.

You know, I could understand that first interception maybe. The pick six, I mean. I don't necessarily think we should have been throwing toward the sidelines when we had our backs ten yards from our own goal line, but Ainge was trying to make a play, or whatever. Not that it matters, but I think Ainge was baited by the DB into making that throw. So, my hat's off to the DB. It was a nice play. Ainge should know better than to make risky throws like that, but I put this one on Cutcliff as much as Ainge. Our quarterbacks need to be coached not to throw balls where an interception practically guarantees a touchdown, especially in situations like this.

The second interception was really crap. It wasn't fourth down or anything, so a throw away or a scramble wouldn't have killed us. An interception would, however. So what does Ainge do? He threw to a true freshman receiver in obvious double coverage. That one burns me a bit. But I can't stand in Ainge's shoes, and I don't really know how he saw it. So, I'm not going to get too worked up over it. Hopefully he'll learn from the mistakes and move on.

Here's hoping for a stellar bowl game! Go Vols!

again, if we didn't just sit on the lead the first half and not move the ball after the 1st drive, maybe it woulda been diff. the play calling was AWFUL. whoever it was Cut, or Phil someone needs to knock them upside the head.

I still maintain that Ainge is a large part of the reason we even played LSU in the first place....
