idk if this has been talked about but after suffering through another UT second half it really seemed like it was about 95% ainge's fault. i know his line was great and he has been good for us over his 4 years but the guy went about 5 drives without throwing the ball more than 2 yards downfield. everytime he gets any kind of pressure he flips the ball to an unopen reciever 2 yards away. looked like he was afraid to get hit, maybe he doesn't know berry only plays D for us. but it was pathetic, from what i just saw we aren't gonna lose much with losing him. and the D gets credit for this one, they stepped up over and over again :good!:

GO VOLS!

I have always been a Ainge supporter but I do believe it will be benificial for our program to get a breath of fresh air at QB. Thanks Ainge for a great career and good luck in the NFL!

Go Vols!

If Ainge is able to pass for around 30 attempts he is fine, when it gets above that then that's when the offense struggles somewhat.

ESPN - Wisconsin Badgers vs. Tennessee Volunteers Box Score, January 1 2008 - NCAA College Football

Ainge rarely threw anything that didn't go for min 4 yards. Add in that we weren't running the ball, we turned 1st down plays into short, high percentage passes rather than runs.

I can't fault Ainge for anything today. He only made a few poor throws.

yea, i saw the line, he got the yards because on the little tosses we would have good runs for 20 yards. maybe its cut's fault for not calling anything deep idk, but its all good because they're both gone

Are you still drunk from last night? Vols don't have a prayer in that game today without Ainge.

I've been pretty outspoken on my dislike of Ainge on here but I will say this....He looked like her was throwing the ball back on his Freshman level again. He threw some bullets around.

I still don't think he'll pan out very well in the NFL.

That looked more like the 2006 Ainge today. There were bigger plays than most of this season and he took us on some drives. Two of which could have resulted in touchdowns if not for moronic playcalling. And no picks.

He's gone! He's gone! He's gone! :clapping:

First half he looked like a decent senior QB. Second half, he stunk it up like usual. Doesn't matter....know why.....He's gone!:dance2:

Great heart & attitude by the defense and I must admit, Rogers didn't drop balls today so kudos to him for that. Mayo was a stud!

we were a much better team today and could've won by more, and im not doubting his ability, he made some great throws today, its just that in the second half we stopped going deep, or medium...
im not an ainge hater, maybe it was on cut's play calling, im just not gonna cry like tebow when he leaves.

So how did he stink it up? What do QBs with no running game and class B receivers normally do?

Exactly. I am amazed that if anyone is being called out for playing poorly in this win, that it would be Ainge.

Well normally in the second half "our" quarterback throws 2 or maybe if he gets no pressure 4 yard passes....if there is pressure, he throws it to the hot dog vendor...

I will say he looked better than usual in the first half...nice job letting routes develop and threw the ball on a rope....

Those were the same class B receivers in the first half btw......

Either way......he's gone! :)

The second half was not Ainge's fault, or at least all his fault. Calling 3 of the first 6 plays for AF sent the offense into a damn tailspin.

or having Ainge driving the team down the field and using jones three times on runs.

Anyone that thought Ainge did anything wrong today needs to have their heads examined. He was even throwing bullets when he had to throw off his back leg. He's not mobile, but neither was Peyton. They brought heavy blitzes and he got rid of it. That's what a qb is supposed to do

I thought he played above himself in the first half....and played more like his old self in the second half....

Playcalling was suspect all day with some real hum dingers in there....but then there are those who always say we're too vanilla

I'm sorry, I have a short memory. Who did they name as the player of the game on TV?

it was some guy that threw for 365 yards wearing an orange shirt. Pretty sure they said he was from Oregon. I think he 10 on the front and back of his shirt.

I would definitely agree Player of the First Half would go to Ainge. I would also credit him with getting us ahead enough to barely hang on and win. Know what....I don't have to watch him next year....'cause he's gone!!!

If I give him great credit the first half, the offense was not effective especially in the 3rd quarter, he stunk it up in the 2nd half. Great job/poor job.

Did anyone else hear when they were talking about his draft stock and Todd McShay said that he "lacked arm strength"???

If there is one thing Erik Ainge has, it's a very, very strong arm. Maybe it's the short routes or his "shoulder injury" and not throwing the ball all over the field like he did his freshman season, but you've got to be kidding me with that comment.

I agree, would we have won with more of the g-gun when Wis. had it covered well, and we were not executing? As far as the 2nd half, I place more blame on the play calling and the inability to handle their D-line.
