Ainge yards

we have new wrs so i thought maybe the yards would drop

But you gotta figure in that he himself has improved, and he missed two games last year.

Plus our schedule this year is easier.

If the recievers step up, it could be much like last year for him, maybe even better.

Thats a very big "but" also last year we had no running game at all and we were forced to try to throw to move the ball.

I think Ainge will have a better year than last year if he stays healthy, I'm not sure if his statistics will be any better though.

If Ainge stays healthy all season and the recievers just play "ok", I think more than 3000yds will happen. I think Ainge was re-discovering his confidence the first half of the season last year. Couple that with the fact he missed a couple of games, yeah 3000+ is very possible.

Seemed like Ainge got a lot of help with yards after catch. Might not be nearly as big of an asset this season.

That's really true. It's funny because if the receivers don't step up like they need to, our offensive philosophy might be 180 degrees from our "abandon the run ask questions later" style last year and Ainge's stats could really look different come end of this season. There are two wild cards in that equation though. The tight ends step up and make up for the receivers, or the O-Line is no better than last year and we have to heave it regardless.

I would think that 3000 is very possible. The TE's will catch alot of his early passes, but remember Kenny O Neil is a sub 4.3 burner with experience. As a freshman at Florida State he was the number three receiver in the rotation. He should start immediatly and help Ainge out with the YAC.

No way he throws for more yards then he did last year.

1. Our running game will be better. Or, to say it another way, surely it cant be worse.

2. Our receivers wont be nearly as good as they were last year. Do the new guys have more talent as a group? Yes. But its going to take time, and they're going to make mistakes. Its just the nature of the beast.

3. Meachem, I think, totally changed the way our offense worked. His presence opened up everything for Swain and Smith. Will any of our receivers draw a double this year? Not for awhile.

4. I know people are saying "well he missed some games so this year he'll have more yards by simply playing in more games".

Ainge has NEVER played every game in a season for his entire career. No reason to think it will suddenly happen now. Plus afaik this is the first time he's been hurt before the season began. Maybe he's just getting the inevitable injury out of the way.
