i just saw on the home page the headline talking about ainge to play some against bama! i think this is the answer... i love what clausen has done but he just cant get the ball down the field with the deep throws! maybe this will be the hit to knock ainge back on stride... we need to get the ball to fayton, hannon, swain, and taylor in the open field! ainge might be the guy to do it!

What happened to Clausen being the permanent starter? I think its more or less like choosing between a rock and a hard place.

what the heck you all! do you all have any pride wat so ever. How can you say our season is over when weve played 5 games??? were not going to the sec champ... holy crap lets cry about it. a true volunteer wouldnt stoop to that level. that is just sick so why dont you not ever consider yourself a vol fan ever again!

Believe me, the season is not over. Not yet anyway. We may be out of the SEC race but we can still finish with a "respectable" year. Don't get me wrong, I am not happy with losing to our two East rivals but picking ourselves up and finding a way to beat Bama will heal a lot of wounds and right a lot of wrongs.

umm, Clausen was suppose to be starter all year and I am sick of tired of the qb switching and its already cost us team chemistry, team unity, and a game aginst Florida. half the team likes Rick and Half likes Ainge. This season is over man. They can't stick with a qb and our offense just sucks. And dont ever tell me to not consider myself a vol fan ever again. I use to live dead in gator/ bull dawg country and all I got was *** my team sucks and I defended the Vols through the thick and thin. I just think it is time for a change and this is not the right change.

My only question is "Why did they not let him play in the Georgia game?" Everybody had a feel-good fest over the LSU game, but forgot that even the best players, can't do their best hurt. I think a lot of us let it slide when Ricky ran his mouth after that game, but to call out the fans? Sounds kinda like Jerry Green.

Perfect opportunity to turn the season around. The Rose Bowl is gone, the SEC CG is pretty much gone barring a miracle, but I still love playing big time schools on New Year's. Especially the Big 10 schools.

BTW, We have the toughest schedule in America.

Thank our Admin's for that. And I proud that we have always welcomed a tough OOC opponent. When's the last time Georgia has traveled to play a tough OOC opponent? Seriously, if you think about it, Georgia's toughest OOC opponents have always been Ga Tech and Clemson. If you're not familiar with how far away Clemson and GaTech are from Sanford, go to Sanford, fill up your SUV with gas, and you can make a triangle from all 3 points and get back with 1/2 a tank. You know what, thinking about that, it IRKS me that Georgia hasn't traveled to play anyone good. I don't recall them playing anyone from another conference on the road. Can you? Oh well, that's besides the point. What were we talking about?

My vote: Put in Ainge and get him ready for next year. Confidence is an invaluable trait.

The only way Ainge can get back to the business of being Ainge, is under live fire. And I would prefer he get it back before the trip to South Bend.

Yeah, if nothing else, ruining Bama's season would be a nice little consollation prize.

i dont care if you slept in spurriers wife's bed! if your saying our season is over and we have nothing to play for then you dont deserve to call yourself a vol fan! being a vol fan isnt just about winning! if we lost every game i would wakeup and start tailgatin at 8 in the morning i would support them... and cheer for as long as it took! so dont tell me this season is over because its NOT. A win over the tide redeems alot. and if you had the balls to defend ut in gator/dawg country why dont you have the nutts to do it on here!!

Giving Ainge some playing time is not giving up on the season if you ask me. I'm sure that RC will start and they will give Ainge a couple of series just like they did before and see what happens if nothing happens.

Ainge, Clausen.....it really doesn't matter but it might help Riggs out having Ainge in there. Bama's defense is good enough without having to put 8 or 9 guys in the box.

I understand where you are coming from but at least Ainge got the ball in the endzone last year. We also were in field goal range 4 times and only came out with one. Add those and it could have been 28 - 14.

Good offense with no scoring just just as bad.

If they're now going to switch to Ainge, then they're obviously 1-2 quarters too late. Clausen won the job at LSU, but only after the other guy struggled. Against UGA, the shoe was on the other foot. And, at LSU, Ainge obviously screwed up with the INT, but it was all of the dropped passes that got us behind. I hope everybody hasn't forgotten how many third down drops occurred in that 1st half. So, YES, start Ainge against Bama...But, here's my take on what was the biggest difference between us and UF and UGA. The teams may as well be evenly matched. Maybe UT has the most talent, but really, these teams are about even. The difference is that when things broke down for the UF offense, Leak could just take off running. Same for UGA and Shockley. But, for us, everybody has to do his job, and everything has to work for us to move the football.

It does make you curious, are we scouting, recruiting anytype of mobile QB? EA, word is he's more mobile. He's as tall as a telephone poll, not very elusive IMO. JC, we dont have any idea, what he is really capable of as of right now.

For the BS fan or fans, He posed a threat with his happy feet. But he didnt like to go to class amoung other issue's. I honestly believe he could have gained a better arm once he matured. Who recruited him?(idk) In todays SEC, Pro-Style Pocket QB's arent going to get it done, if they cant pull the ball down and make something happen on their own.

Even Peyton in his Bama slaying hay'day, No, he didnt pull it down and run 40 yrd's on D's, But until he was on his back it was a live play someone was still blocking, and recievers were still trying to get open.

We know Peyton stays in contact with UT, his comments about Ainge are, "If it isnt broke dont fix it" (from throwing off his back foot) OK Peyton, it's broke, he's scared to death to step out of a blitz and still thread the needle. I do not count hitting the reciever in the hands, chest, facemask, below the waist as a QB flaw. I am just as concerned as the next UT OC that will come from posting here, Except i'll take a few on the chin (no i dont get used to it) and take a 1-10 season as long as that 1 WIN ='s urinating on Bama's parade.

I like Rick's work ethic and blue collar approach to getting it done, but I also think Erik's just in a funk of some kind. The kid needs some playing time to get back in the groove. I personally think (Which is only an opinion, gang) that Erik is just a bit away from getting it together.

Give him some chances...I think the potential is and has always been there.

Have you seen his highlight tape from JUCO? He's making some nice passes. I know I know, JUCO defense.....but still.

Excuse me, STRUGGLED?? Anybody remember the safety that wasn't?? The kid is a head case, and if we put him back in, PF is the one declaring the season over. I'll win or lose with RC, thanks.

While we're at it, I'm sick of this "you're not a real fan if..." crap. We wouldn't all be so frustrated if we weren't real fans. Give that s*** up.

This weekend will clear alot of things up.

Georgia plays at Vanderbilt and Florida plays at LSU.

I fully expect LSU to beat Florida.

And Vanderbilt's worst teams have always given Georgia fits. Against Vandy, LSU had a full week to prepare and led only 9-6 late in the third quarter despite having half the crowd wearing purple.

If both lose, then the football gods have given Tennessee a small chance at redemption and a shot at the East Division.

Then all that has to happen is for Florida to beat Georgia AND Auburn to beat Georgia. Florida would need to lose to either Steve Spurrier/South Carolina or Vanderbilt.

And before anybody says it will NEVER happen, I've seen Georgia collapse at the end of the season many times... and Florida has seemed to trend that way as well finishing with 5 losses in a season the past several seasons.
