Ainge Show

So it's a comment that was taken out of context?

He didnt say ut needs to go out there and break this guys knee cap. He was explaining that if ut wanted to even have a snow balls chance in hell at beating bama they would have to play with a nasty attitude and would have to set the tone in the first 2 minutes of the game to let bama know they werent gonna roll over. Yea he did say take the fifteen yarder on the first play of the game hit him a little late. Go back and listen to thursdays show on their website its in the first hour i believe and tell me what you think

In high school... (I was a spur) and the first play of the game against North Jackson I had a clean shot at the quarterback and decided to go low and wrap up around his braced knee. Does that make me a bad guy? Just football IMO.

no, it makes you a P**ssy for not trying to take his knee out..........ok, im kidding ofcourse, but im sure there's some people that saw your post and thought that. Football is a delicate, beautifully choreographed, angelic fluffy soft sport played by nimble, fleet of foot, low strung, emotionally balanced, good hearted gingers and what Eric was REALLY trying to say was that Sal should instruct his players to be as gentle with McCarron as possible when they are helping him off the field after each touchdown pass he throws on our devinely ferocious secondary....GTFOH people, if you didnt hear the whole show, dont jump on ainges a$$....he also said that bama should try to do the same thing to tyler, its what football teams do....when the opposing team has an injured player, priority number one is to work on that injury....you think boxers are instructed to "hit the other eye" when dudes right eye is cut and swollen shut?

I just read about that stupid comment. Stupid comments didn't work out too well for the Missouri team with the SEC "Old Man Football", either. UGH. That's all we need is to fire up Alabama team. I don't know why anyone would even say that, in context or out of context.

^This was meant kinda tongue in cheek. That's why I didn't really defend it. (except against the guy that got all personal towards me) I hate that sarcasm doesn't transfer through the computer screen, and I should have thought about that before posting. If anyone cared to find the Bray vs. Ainge thread, you'd see that I've always been an EA supporter. I only apologize if I truly feel I've done something wrong, and, in this case I believe I have. I'm sorry to Erik Ainge and anyone else struggling with their personal demons.

Sincerely,
Willy
best thing to do is write your sarcastic Statement then push enter ten times then write.... j/k sarcasm

This kind of thing happens occasionally. Many on this board, who are old enough, will remember how many thought Bama intentionally took Tony Robinson out.

mccarron is an average qb surrounded by a good supporting cast. ole miss out scored the bammers 7-6 in the 2nd half b/c their DC decided to make aj beat them.
So if we can stop the run bammer could be beatable! :loco:

After reading CBS coverage of this, I am convinced that Ainge needs to go. He is an embarassment to Tennessee fans, players, and coaches. No media personality who encourages players to "rip up knees" after the whistle should have access to the team or be allowed to broadcast on behalf of Tennessee Nation. He actually encouraged Alabama players to do the same to Bray!
__________

"Putting aside the irony of a quarterback whose career was frequently interrupted by injury advocating his team injure someone else's quarterback, Ainge's call for the Vols to "bend the rules a little bit" (in his words) in the name of threatening McCarron's career is so reprehensible it's barely worth the effort to condemn it. But maybe Ainge was just speaking off the cuff and didn't intend for his words to be as ugly and barbaric as they've come across.

So let's check his Twitter feed to see if there's any clarifications or apologies ...

"Haha these bama fans are funny man. When a guy is banged up you go for his boo boo. That's football you don't like it...watch soccer #3rdSAT"
— Erik Ainge (@ErikAinge3) October 19, 2012

Ah. Not so much, then.

(In a response to an angry Alabama fan, Ainge also approves of Tide defenders going after Tyler Bray's knee. I'm sure the current Vols quarterback and his teammates and coaches appreciate a program alumnus encouraging an opponent to try to end Bray's season or career.)"

It is worth noting that Ainge's comments weren't limited to suggesting both injured QBs should have their knees stepped on. He also encouraged Tennessee's offensive linemen to execute illegal crack back blocks so as to "rip up the knees" of Alabama's pass rushers. And this guy is allowed to speak for Tennessee Nation? Is this the image Tennessee wants to present to incoming recruits? to the rest of the country?

You are correct, my bad, I misread and was talkin the good ole fashion cutblock.

As others have said, Ainge wasn't encouraging dirty play, just stating the obvious. I played RB and if you show a limp, it becomes a target and at the bottom of the pile, fuggetaboutit.

Unfortunately, that wasn't the case. Ainge was explicit about it being a dirty play, after the whistle, and an intentional foul with intent to injure. He went on about it for several minutes. He also encouraged Tennessee's offensive line to execute illegal crackback blocks in an effort to rip up the knees of Alabama's pass rushers - once again, explicitly calling for illegal play with intent to injure. Later in the day, during twitter-wars, he doubled down on all of this. Ainge is a low-life who should not have access to the program or be allowed to speak for any program claiming to have any smidgeon of class.

Part of football is big hits. All teams want to knock the other teams best player out of the game. They don't want to permanently injure them but knocked loopy so that they can't play the rest of the game then ya. Can't believe people are making a big deal about this. Been part of football forever.
