SIAP. Talked about on Finebaum.

Ainge said if he was Sal he tells one of the guys to step on McCarron's knee and take the 15 yd penalty to get him out of the game. I think that is pathetic to say. Thoughts?

Probably getting some defensive bounty ideas from the "Bounty Mastermind" himself....

He said that he was a former player and he said that you don't let the other team know that you are hurt or they come after you he said that when he was hurt the teams he played against would come at him he said you don't let the other team know your weakness no matter what it is.

I heard it too. He was not calling for someone to intentionally take out McCarron. He said he has pain in the knee and they should target it. He also gave examples of how he was targeted with injuries. Anyone who doesn't know injuries are targeted has never played organized sports. Nothing wrong with what Ainge said IMO.

Yep, if your post has "finebaum" in the start it should tell you something. I heard it and it was nothing like its being twisted. Darthvaul is spot on.

Former Tennessee quarterback Erik Ainge's strategy for Vols upset? Stepping on AJ McCarron's knee - CBSSports.com

"I say it all the time. Nasty, attitude, get after it. Do something crazy," Ainge said. "The first time AJ McCarron drops back, tell one of your boys you've got fifteen on this one. He's got a sore knee, go step on it."

" We're going to have to do something out of the norm. Whether it's from an attitude standpoint, a gameplan standpoint, or bending the rules a little bit. We're going to have to do something that makes them say 'Woah, this isn't how teams play us. Why aren't these guys scared? Everyone's supposed to be afraid of us.'"

Agree, Sims looked like a fast Driskell and we all know how that worked out. I'd rather have McCarrons in there and Saban choking the offense down to keep him healthy. That's the best way for Tennessee to win. Stay close and make a couple big plays late and not give bama time to retake the lead.

Sims left Bama I'm pretty sure.

The people making fun of ainge for his addiction are truly classy individuals. Ainge's remarks were taken and completely twisted to make him sound like a lunatic, but if you heard what he said, he wasn't calling for illegal play. Get your heads outta your dupe chutes people.

I assume Ainge would be cool with a Bama player piledriving Bray's head in the turf too.
It's just football..........right?
it happened last week against state on the play were bray hurt his knee there was no penalty called, i heard the ainge segment and to me you nancy boys should pull your panties out of your crack and you obviously never played football at a highly competitive level, this kind of stuff goes on like it or not. I wish our team had more of EA's attitude we probably wouldn't be getting punked out every week in the sec.

If he said it oh well.. Yes it's football. In high school we had teams who would throw sand from the field in players eyes when in a pile. Anything to get an advantage over the other team. If the player is hurt, intentionally go after the injury but don't do it so obvious that everyone sees it live or refs call a penalty. This is a contact sport....

SO Ainge is an expert now? After the stellar career he had in the NFL, I could see how coaches would take his lame advice. I wouldn't even say that out loud. I lost all respect for him today. Why not try to make you players better instead of stoopin to thug tactics. JUst like Ainge, take the easy way out. Reminds me of the Billy Joel song.. the microphone smells like a beer... just sayin...:loco:

Everyone does it, he just said it. I do not agree with him saying it, but to say players and coaches do not target injuries is just ignorant to the game and how its played in reality.

Lost my baby sister to drugs this year. I think this is lower.

Very sorry to hear that, friend. I work with many people fighting that battle and weep for them and their families. Addiction is nothing to joke about or mock in any way. If Ainge said that and meant that (which I dont know), then it is disappointing , but I will never throw his addiction in his face. That is what prevents many from coming forward and getting help,I applaud him for fighting and for sharing his struggle.
