Ainge REALLY hurt his NFL stock...

Ainge has been a warrior...I don't question his heart or toughness. But his poor decision making and lack of overall quarterback ability was exposed by the Tiger defense.

I see three glaring weaknesses that will seriously hamper Eric's ability to play on Sunday...

1) Can't "look off" defenders. Following his primary receiver on the entire route...way too often.

2) Gives up on plays and throws the ball away well before any significant pressure comes...sadly, it's my opinion that this "feel" can't be taught...

3) Inability to throw the deep ball with success. This may not be all Eric's fault...I realize UT doesn't have blazing speed at receiver this season...and he was also injured at the beginning of the year.

Just my opinion...
I think your right why can,t the vols get good players like the gators ones who can catch a football we need to get t-bow up here.

we will never know if the deep ball was open the past two years bec Erika did'nt look deep. On the other hand the few games I remember Crompton playing in there was always a deep ball or two

Tim, this may be the second most accurate post I've seen about Ainge. I think next year you will see us go downfield a lot more. These average, can't get open recievers will have breakout year in 2008.

This one by Flathead...

Ask yourself how many times we went two quarters with no production and multiple three and outs?! That is bad play calling and execution, and it is Eric Ainge that makes those decisions where to force the ball and when. I wonder how good Foster would have looked this year if he had run half of the balls Eric threw away because he "percieved " pressure. He will have a hard time in the pro's if he even gets there after last nights performance.Either of the Clausens would have won last night period! They were on the field to WIN, and I didn't care much for either of them.
Bring on BJ Coleman and Compton in the bowl game!

The nfl book on ainge: average arm strength, not mobile, doesn't look off defensive backs and makes poor decisions under pressure. Other than that, he's a superstar baby!!!!
