Ainge has been a warrior...I don't question his heart or toughness. But his poor decision making and lack of overall quarterback ability was exposed by the Tiger defense.

I see three glaring weaknesses that will seriously hamper Eric's ability to play on Sunday...

1) Can't "look off" defenders. Following his primary receiver on the entire route...way too often.

2) Gives up on plays and throws the ball away well before any significant pressure comes...sadly, it's my opinion that this "feel" can't be taught...

3) Inability to throw the deep ball with success. This may not be all Eric's fault...I realize UT doesn't have blazing speed at receiver this season...and he was also injured at the beginning of the year.

Just my opinion...

his stock wasnt that great to begin with. but as Vince Young soared his stock in the Rose Bowl, Eric Ainge did plunder his. however, what round a player gets drafted in, only affects his paycheck. he will get a chance to play in the pros, either way.

The best thing Erik has going for him is that, at a glance, he looks like an NFL quarterback. He's got that prototypical first round qb stature.

But, he's an injury prone guy who stiffens up and chokes in big games. He looks great against the Cals, Kentuckys, and Arkansas States on the schedule, but vanishes against Florida, Alabama, and LSU.

And, I would bet that he set a single season NCAA record for most passes "wisely" thrown away.

I've never seen a quarterback, under no pressure, throw more footballs over to the sideline.

i think he will be a second rounder and mostly picked by colts i guess.. just my stupid guess..

Erik hurt us bad yesterday. I will have a hard time forgiving him for that game. All he had to do is what he does the best.. Throw the ball away.. But noooooooooooo he throws it to Zenon for a pick 6. Critical error/Critical game/

Erik is a choker.

his deep ball floats like a kite. he rarely puts zip on the ball. he has zip, but rarely uses it.

Crompton came in one game/ that other louisana team, albeit, however he throws the bomb very well.. Other teams must feel at some point that their opponent can and will throw the bomb or they will never respect it. This hurts all facets of the offensive game. Crowding the line etc etc

Or, perhaps he could have just checked off the first route and glanced over the middle at Moore (I think it was Moore) who was wide open for a first down.

Erik loves to make those "NFL throws" instead of making the smart throws. He could have tossed the ball over the middle...but, instead, throws a rope from the left hash to the right sideline with his back 10 yards from his own endzone...ridiculous.

he has the tools, but the mindset, that's another matter. for him to succeed in the nfl (on the order of a journeyman, not at the brady, manning level), he needs to do a lot of growing up.

I was irritated with him yesterday, and maybe shouldn't have said he sucks. I hope he's one of those that turn out to be a better Pro QB than a college one. I mean, just look at Tom Brady. I bet I'm nearly the only person that's ever mentioned Ainge and Tom Brady in the same post. :)

I just hope that was his last college game. Bring on Crompton. I'm not a big Fulmer fan, but if he started Crompton in our bowl, then I won't say another bad thing about him for one year.

Careful, I was calling for this in the Kentucky game thread and got roasted by some posters.....I'm ready for a new leader too though!!!:clapping:

The reason you likely got roasted is because the bowl game is practically meaningless. The KY and LSU games has the SEC on the line.

I didn't realize he had any "nfl stock." The nfl likes QBs that can win big games. He can't.

In all fairness, The LSU game will amount to a marginal drop in draft status.... NFL is based on Need... Plenty of unknown playing QB in the NFL... He has sound Fundamentals and unless he cannot throw it deep anymore will easily go in the Second Round if there is a need...no later than the 4th....if not....Combines will be the key to his success...plus the fact he will have veteran receivers versus the Green ones we had this year..

why are people still talking about this. it's beyond absurd.

reason is because they want a scapegoat and rather than blaming it on the HC, OC or DC whom we are stuck with its easy to blame the senior who is leaving..What's more, we will blame Crompton or Coleman or whoever steps in next year versus the three above...

First let me say I hope I'm wrong, but I think EA will get drafted, only later to be cut.

The one thing he has going for him is the NFL is short on QB's,and there isn't a large slew of "big name" QB's coming out this year......I hope he can at least survive a couple of years so he can make some dough for himself.

Ainge has some serious negatives, he's injury-prone and doesn't play well under pressure.

Agreed and you are going to get hit in the NFL and the Pressure will always be there and without legs he will be a 2nd stringer at the height of his career....
