Ainge: "QB position is a question mark"

I don't think that there is a question mark surrounding the QB position AT ALL. Not even close. In fact, I thought Worley looked terrible, and Peterman has yet to play a single down as a Vol.

That said, I don't think anyone can really argue that Tyler Bray is better than Ainge was. Ainge beat Florida, Bama, Georgia, South Carolina, Cal, and started in an SEC title game. Tyler Bray played well against Cincy, but past that all he's proven is that he could light up the scoreboard as a freshman against the 4 weakest opponents we played all year. He hasn't won an SEC game against anyone other than Ole Miss, Vandy, and Kentucky. I know Ainge had Swain and Meachem, but he never had a duo like Hunter and Rogers, not to mention Bray also had Jones, DeMo, and Stocker as a frosh.

Before you get all pissy about Bray not playing defense, not folding in the second half, blah blah blah...you're right he didn't play defense, but he was the QB that couldn't manage more than 7 points against a horrible Kentucky team. Our defense got gashed by a receiver playing QB, because our offense couldn't keep them off the field.

Now I think Bray is our guy. I think he'll prove himself with a healthy thumb and Justin Hunter. He'll be fine, but don't go saying crazy things like he's a battle tested winner. If there is any question regarding Bray at QB it is how will he avoid a pass rush with Negateer hanging from his nutsack?

Ainge just said that. Unreal.

This choke-master pick-throwing superchoker just slammed Bray.

Li'l Erik, I have news for you. Bray is 50 times the QB you were ever were. As a sophomore, he outshines you as a senior. The QB position is one place on our offense that we don't have a question mark.

You might want to stay away from slamming Bray at this point, considering your own shortcomings.

Yeah. The guy was only the last UT QB to beat Florida and Alabama. How awful.

Here you go, people.

Go to about the 21 minute mark.

Top to bottom, that's gonna be the strength of our team (linebackers).

That'll be the identity(of the team), the linebackers, and the wide receivers.

The quarterback's, you know, the quarterbacks good, we'll see, you know, we'll see how that goes, that's still a question mark.

Believe it or not, people, that's still a question mark. Until those big games start getting won, it's a question mark.

And? How is what he is saying not true? Has Bray beaten LSU, Bama, Auburn, Georgia, Florida, or USC while I wasn't looking? It's not an insult...it's the truth.

Still having a hard time seeing where he said anything wrong.

People who are big Ainge supporters tend to forget that his Sophomore year was probably considered the worst in UT history by a starting QB!!!!!!!!!! Yes he was a decent QB, he was better than Rick Clausen, Joey Mathews, AJ Suggs, and Matt Simms. However, he had more talent around him than Tyler Bray has thought about having. You can say that the talent issue is a cop out, but its not its the TRUTH. A healthy Tyler Bray makes us a 7 win team last year at the least, If Hunter hadnt gotten hurt we may be looking at a 9 win team with a shot at the east, then everyone would have been singing his praises and he would have been in the Heisman conversation something that Erik Ainge was never even as much as an afterthought. So in my opinion, and everyone has one, after two years, as far as statistics are concerned it looks like Bray has an edge and the rest will depend on how his career at UT finishes out.

Because QB is not a question mark? He's starting. He's the leader of this team.

The fans know it, the team knows it, the coaching staff knows it.

Your screen name should be changed from "Negateer" to "guy who just rants random crazy stuff".

Im glad you pasted his comments which is pretty much in line with what you posted earlier. Kudoz for being accurate.

Where did he mention Bray losing his job?

Before anyone jumps on me, I'm just playing devil's advocate and looking at both sides. If Hunter and Bray were both healthy we would have had a killer offense last year.

He's not referring to WHO the starter will be. The starter WILL be Bray. It's just a question mark of how he will perform against the Alabamas, the LSUs, the Georgias, and the Floridas.

There wouldn't be anything wrong with what he said if it would have came from someone other than a butthurt, pill junkie, ex-QB.
So you're literally saying if someone other than Ainge said those exact same words it would be ok and more true?

Not even worthy of a retort.

Where did he mention Bray losing his job?

It was the context. If you listen to the few minutes preceding, Ainge was talking about the different positions, who was starting at the linebacker spots. Then he moved to QB, and said that this was still a question mark.

To me, there is no question mark at QB. We've got a good one, and we're keeping him. Worley's not taking the job, and Peterman's just gonna be a kid.

We are solid as we've ever been at QB, IMO. And Ainge was just trying to stoke some dissent, IMO.

Personally, I wouldn't have given the comment a second thought if dumbest a$% basilio had said it. But Ainge? A recent QB, a supposed supporter of the program?

It came across as petty, petulant jealousy. And it pisses me off. The little choker needs to keep his negative comments about our current QB to himself.

The Floridas don't even count anymore.

15-11 the last 2 years and probably 7-5 this year.

Beating Florida is akin to beating Mississippi State now.

Thanks.

Im sure if the "context" was the starting position being in jeopardy he would have mentioned Worley or whoever he thought may step in.

I think you have totally over reacted to a comment that you have tied a purpose to that is not as clear as you think.

To the subject. Bray is the most talented QB we have had in a few years, and he will be the starting QB here as long as he stays healthy until he leaves. IMO

To be what UT fans want him to be he has to win games against UF/UGA/Bama/USCe/LSU and such teams of that level. He hasn't done that yet, and that is not all on him by any means. But crowning him anything other than talented at this point is ignoring what he hasn't done yet.

Sure it does. Its another SEC east win. We had one this year over Vandy.

Beating Miss St. is a big win right now.
