Ainge better not play this weekend, if he does, we are guaranteed to know that we have idiots in charge on the Hill!

Go Jim Bob Cooter, Ainge..."Grab a clip board"

#45 NEEDS SOME STICK EM, he is awfully thankful that he isn't the goat today!

Ok, to say that Ainge shouldn't play against Ole Miss is not very smart. Clausen is a senior and Ainge will head into next season as the front runner for the QB job. We "should" have a comfortable lead in the second half against Ole Miss and it would be a great time to get Ainge into the game against a bad team and get some of his confidence back.

Once our fans get a chance to see J. Crompton and his arm, Ainge will head West.

Psst....Ainge has a better arm than Crompton. I'm not saying anything about one of them being better than the other. But, it is a fact that Ainge has a stronger arm than Crompton. Sorry, dude.

Whats a strong arm got to do with it. When was the last time we threw deep? Ainge floats the ball, has no zip and he throws the ball to high! Hell the LSU QB has one of the strongest arms you'll ever see, but I don't want him either!

Well, my point was that you said "wait until fans get a chance to see J. Crompton and his arm." We have seen Ainge's arm and it is very impressive (even more so than Crompton's) but there is a lot more that goes into being a successful QB.

no one said that cromptons arm was stronger, just said wait till u see it. maybe his arm is more accurate, maybe he has more control.

on a side note, did anyone notice that the official game thread on utsports said that crompton got in the game?

After that play in the end zone he should turn in his uniform, for good, and go join Bruce Pearl in the gym. He lost his nuts/guts after his ND injury. He is done. He made the single worst play in UT football history. Never mention his name with UT football in the same breath again! Rick is a man and he plays like one. His arm strength, or lack therof, is made up by having the heart of a lion.

But can EA be a LEADER. Clausen is a LEADER. Listen to his audio at Vols.com. Fans forget about LEADERSHIP.

Also, will the OFFENSE follow a leader. Do they respect him. Has a lot to do with being a qb.

I'm "swaggin", (Simple Wild A-- Guess), the offense might think Clausen is a better LEADER. So, they help and follow him.

Leaders help bring out other people.

I'm tickled pink that you beleive in your statement. However, I have seen Crompton play in N.C. and remember, it's not how far you throw it, it's how you square your shoulders to the line of scrimmage and read the defense. "Bottom Line", DUDE! :matrix:

Ainge is done. Send him to Bruce Pearl or back west. Sorry it didn't work out and thanks for the effort.

Ainge just needs to get clicking with the offense again. I'm not pinning this on anybody, but when Ainge is in offensive play goes down, including the offensive line. When Clausen is in the offense runs relatively well (although I think our offense will still underachieve this season -- a horizontal game will not hold up against a stout D).

The situation is not as cut and dry as "Ainge sucks, Clausen does not." Sorry to any of you that think it is that way, but it is not. Just get Ainge and the rest of the O back on the same page, work Ainge back into the system bit by bit and we will have '04 Ainge back.

With greatest respect to you Milo, he created the 'WORST" play in our football history because he does not want to get hit anymore. The ND injury cost him his courage and he's lost his balls. It's happened to others. He lost it with his teamates and his fans. Try hoops E, the contact is less. Plug in Crompton and recruit the crap out of Jimmy Clausen. He is now the odd man out. He had is shot, three times and didn't cut it. :post-20645-1119625378:

With any luck Don, we should still have ten more games this season. You should know better than to write anything off this early.

But as for now, Rick is the man.

Ainge seems to be neglecting his fundamentals, even when he has time. So many times during the last two games, he is throwing off his back foot, and every time he does, he misfires. It's his composure that is shot, you can tell that the only pass he feels comfortable throwing in the red zone is the fade to the corner of the endzone. That's not a good sign for his confidence. :(

I am totally ashamed of any fan that would talk bad about one of our players! EA came to Tennessee to help this team win. He has helped win a heck of a lot more than he has lost. I thank him and have faith in this kid. I have seen him play his rear end off and impress EVERYONE! This guys has not forgotten how to play ball. He will be a star and when he is all of you nay sayers who like to talk bad about a guy who is wearing Orange and white BY CHOICE AND INVITATION will change your tune.
Rick is a gamer and always has been but he is not perfect either.
I drove to BR and watched the game. I have watched it since I got back and still say the same. Our D played their guts out the whole game. Our O line finally started picking up the blitz in the second half and gave Rick enough time to get the ball off. He deserves a TON of credit for his poise and passes. But to throw EA under the bus is very bammer like and unbecoming of a gentleman and a VOL fan. If you want to talk bad about one of our players go to tidefans they will welcome you with open arms. To criticize play is one thing but to speak of a VOL like that is totally uncalled for! Shame on all who have done so!

I guess you could call it neglecting his fundamentals. Who is supposed to be teaching him this stuff? I'm certainly not trying to start another fire Sanders debate, BUT EA does not look a well coached QB to me. And don't come with the "what's your explanation for Clausen" because RC is just smart about it. Plain and simple. Plus he hasn't always been at Tennessee, he was coached elsewhere for 2 years too.

And I agree with VolBeef. Some of you who are bashing one of our own should step back and take a look at yourself. Ainge just wants to help our team and he wants to win. Just because he isn't coming out and playing like God, it doesn't make him the Devil.

I'll tell you one thing, WHEN Ainge gets his stuff together, he's going to be one heck of a QB. Then the ones that despise him so much are going to be singing his praises again.

You don't have to hate Ainge to like Clausen you know. :twocents:

IMO all of Ainge's problems are mental right now and that is sometimes not easily "coached" away, and as much as I like CPF I think most of his mind problems with his game lay at Phil's feet. I also agree with 88 this thread sounds like it belongs at GoTide.com.
