Ainge Nailed It

Not sure who else listens to their show/podcast. I do once in a while. Today to begin hour 2 they discussed CJH's comment about the team playing like it is 0-0 all the time. He pointed out that it wasn't the team that took their foot off the gas vs UF with a 17 point game. It was the coordinators' playcalling that changed. He pointed out that you can say "0-0" all you want but if the coaches go prevent... the players get that message and their intensity drops.

I hope ALL learned that lesson- players and coaches.

Unpopular opinion, everything the coaches did at the end of the game was 100% correct. They put themselves in a scenario where the other team had to score twice with 0 timeouts and recover an onside kick.

Granted the other team almost did it, but you’re still best to always play the odds their

We scored the touchdown to go up 38-21 with 7:55 left. We didn’t run another play till exactly the 4 minute mark up 38-27. The problem isn’t taking our foot off the gas IMO the problem is not being able to run the ball to shut the game out.

The staff did the right thing running clock when it did. Some y'all just pissy you all almost had a heart attack. The odds of UF pulling the comeback was extremely low. It just got closer than we would of liked but let's not get stupid here.

Not even that really. It's more the defense let UF score that second TD way too quick. They gave up a big pass on prevent defense. That defeats the purpose of prevent defense lol

Oh for sure. Punting the ball back with a minute or so left, up two possessions I’ll take that in every game we play. Definitely not blaming the offense for that lol

What medication do you think they would use?

They did a good job. Got a first down. Ran a lot of clock. The bigger issue was the defense giving up points too quick and then special teams giving up the onside kick

Agreed, LadyVolette.

I'm certainly no doctor, nurse, or even candy striper (not stripper, McDad, get your mind out of the gutter!), but I'm betting they do NOT use anything that works on the whole nervous system.

I'm thinking whatever that stuff is that dentists shoot into your gums, novocaine or lidocaine or whatever. That stuff is hella powerful at blocking pain signals from a local area without having any effect on the brain or the rest of the body.

EDIT: one note, though, even a local painkiller is risky: by going back into the game, the player opens himself up to being hit in the same spot again. And with all the nervous system messaging shut down there, he could get an even worse injury, one that needs quick attention, and not even be aware of it.
Yeah, the lidocaine would have to be in a small amount.. I’ve only ever given it small subcutaneous injection prior to a mediport flush with a Huber needle.. anything that goes IM, IV, or subq you have to be so careful with.. no take backsies

Okay, so the only thing I understood out of all that, really, was LadyVolette = Doc or Nurse. lol :)

Thanks for serving others!

I would assume it's just cortisone.
Cortisone has no analgesic property other than decreasing inflammation and swelling. NSAIDs acetomenophen would be most likely. Doubt seriously any opiates would be used. Possibly local with lidocaine etc

This, 100%. If you’re in a situation late where the other team has no timeouts, under two minutes, and is down by two possessions, just run the ball. We played it right and we won. Some mistakes on special teams and D made it closer than we wanted, but you always plays the odds their and the odds are most in your favor by being conservative and watching the clock tick

I couldn't disagree more with this. I have no idea why I keep seeing people say Tenn "took their foot off the gas" and got lazy.
-The 2nd to last drive they scored a TD.
-The last drive they bled the clock (good thing or Florida has more time and likely scores to win) and in Florida territory was AGRESSIVE and went for it on 4th down. If Warren runs 2 yards deeper the game ends with an 11 point lead and this isn't even a talking point.
- "But but the defense", you say. I don't recall the defense stopping Florida all game. I don't recall thinking Tenn was playing solid D and then got lazy and gave up garbage yards and points at the end.
Sorry, I just don't see the argument.
