Ainge making some great points right now

I just don't know why people want an average at best NFL coach instead of shooting for a guy with some more success.

Average? Are you serious? He won a super bowl with the Bucs, one of the worst NFL franchises ever. He would be able to get the top recruits just by flashing a smile at them. Hiring Gruden would be a win for Tennessee in every possible way imaginable.

That's what i was thinking. And Ainge was going to try to help Tyler study film. Bray does need help on that. SEC Ds change up and if you dont study file you throw ints.

Are you serious?!? "Here's what to do... oh, wait a minute, I'm high on painkillers that I started on my Freshman year because I had to make it to the NFL. They'll never notice as long as I can throw the ball on a line while knowing the Heath Shuler playbook!" Film study? Are you talkin' 'bout practice? Bray has enough problems without a drug addict in his ear.

Jim Harbaugh has proven he can be successful in College and Pro.

Bill Callahan won the AFC Championship (with Jon Gruden's players) and totally failed in Lincoln.

Jimmy Johnson won HUGE in both.

Nick Satan is a legend in college and just an average or below average guy in the pros.

Barry Switzer won in both, but not really...his Dallas team was ultimately a recharged Jimmy Johnson team.

Butch Davis couldn't get it done in Cleveland but he is always on the short list of fine college coaches.

Lot and lots of assistant coaches float bck and forth between college and pro...trying to move up the ladder.

The one thing that stands out in all of these scenarios is that every situation is different and carries a multitude of variables that either breeds success or leads to failure. But they are all different scenarios.

We just DON'T KNOW...no one does. So we hire "whoever" and it becomes an experiment. If he wins...it was the right choice. If he loses, he becomes a failure. It's just more complex than that and every single hire is an experiment. Nick Saban is a one of a kind mold...but even he was learning along the way in East Lansing. There was a time when they wanted him out at Michigan State because Michigan was kickin his ass on the field and on the recruiting trail.

We just don't know.

But one thing is for sure....the Dooley experiment ain't working at the moment and its doubtful he has time to right the ship and set sail.

In the SEC, it's all about money. Winning means making money and losing means losing money. That's why Dooley is doomed here. So why wait for the house to collapse??

I'm paying 20.00 a month for Sirius radio and I have not listened since I discovered the TSR radio app!!!!

...It's free you can download it on any smartphone and stream the Eric Ainge show anytime(amongst a few other daily shows)

....You can also download any of the Sports Animal shows on 99.1 by going to their website...Although Josh and Will are the only ones worth listening to!!!

------- Big ups to Will on the Sports 180 for going off today now that's radio!!!!

100-85 overall record.

5-4 in the postseason.

He was an average NFL coach.

Harbaugh is a guy we should have tried very hard to get the first time around.

If this staff wouldn't let Fuad Reveiz come in FOR FREE!!!! and help these kickers out then the whole damn staff needs to get walking like... Right NOW!

I bet these clowns wouldn't even let a few message board All Stars come in and advise them on how to really turn the program around!!

Obviously the results aren't there but it would be great if we could refrain from firing the entire coaching staff every time they do something that offends Bluetickehound's better sensibilities.

I am torn. I like CDD, but he really needs a Big victory over a ranked team. Beating Alabama and USC would wipe away any Hot seat rumors and people would be all in. Losing to them both would be a death sentence by fan base standards & Boosters. It is a slow turn around. We are definitely better than 2 years ago. But, not where we want to be. I can point out 3 plays in our three loses and if they were in our favor we would be 6-0 and would not even have this thread. We are really one or two season/recruiting classes from being SEC East Champs, SEC Champs, and playing in a BCS Championship game. I can see being 10-2 or 11-1 in the near future. I want to win as much as everyone else. So, unless Gruten, Smart, or Stoops says YES and here I am. No deal. Keep Dooley and lets ride it out. Go Vols. P.S. I like Coach Sal and what he is building. I believe next season we will be Beast on defense. New systems take time and we are almost there.

Ainge's show is so entertaining.

I just want to be on the air with him the whole time talking to him about all the points he makes.

Yup, we went All-in for the FL game and got busted on the river.

We will be playing at the $1-$2 limit tables from now on as long as Dooley is our bankroll.

ainge is speaking alot of truth today

That's my whole point! Thank you!

Whether you like him or not, agree with him or not, his show was very interesting yesterday.....in perhaps the most critical time in UT Football history (at the very least, recent TN football history).

While we are on the subject of mediocre NFL coaches....I gotta feelin Norv Turner is about to have lots of free time.

I know, I know....I'm just saying.

I know i am on the tail end of this, but just getting a chance to read this thread... I think the fact that this coaching staff, facing the issues and struggles we have had, wouldn't let former players come in, (especially Reveiz for FREE) to help this team in positions we have clearly struggled in, speaks volumes on where their heads are right now! I would think that current players that are struggling, seeing former players care enough about the program to come in and mentor, would definitely raise spririts and bring some fire back. I do realize the current coaching staff would need to monitor this so as not to undermine their current coaching philosophies, but Dang, this sounds like a HC who thinks his sh@# doesn't smell, when his coaching certainly has lately... Again, WOW, very shocking and disapointing.... I still had Dooley on a peg of the ladder, but this might have just knocked him completely off.

Just be careful with how you judge the situation, as I jumped to conclusions initially myself. It has been made rather clear (within the thread) that NCAA infractions are very sensitive to this type of "free coaching" scenario.

Now that I know more about it, I might even be more influenced to credit this staff for staying away from it and maintaining a clean slate.

Has anyone stopped to consider if having a volunteer coach for kickers is allowed by the NCAA? I attended an alumni meeting a few weeks ago and learned this: if a high school student who does not even plan to play sports at UT APPROACHES ME to get information about UT and I so much as buy them a Coca-Cola while we talk I have created an NCAA violation. It sounds stupid, I know. It sounds like he has tried to welcome former players inside (maybe not as far as they would like) and has tried to mend things with Coach Majors. There is enough dumping on Dooley right now. Let's at least entertain the idea that there could be a good reason.
