I support Ainge for the great turn around this year. Im hoping that the Bamma game was just good D, because if he has that kind of game with LSU we are in trouble. I do beleive he is great and Cut turned him around, I just hope the trend continues. Was the Bamma performance good D or did he play bad?

Only one of his three picks was really a bad throw IMO... The other was a hail mary, and the other was done correctly, just a really good read by Bama's defensive end. Or was it the OLB? I forget.

I think Ainge will continue to shine this year. Next year I am a little worried, because Swain and Smith will definitely be gone, and probably Meachem, as well. I'm not sure the other guys are quite ready to be the main guys yet. It will be important to hang onto Trooper so that he can coach them up.

It's not the numbers from this game that matter. What we learned in this game is that Ainge is the leader of this team. To make that tackle and then gut out that late TD drive shows confidence and leadership and those qualities have rubbed off on the rest of the offense.

I don't know if anybody else read this quote from Ainge, but in the Montgomery Advertiser, they had a quote from him in the huddle on the touchdown drive. "If anyone doesn't think we are going down there and going to score, go get a sub."

WOW! He is definitely the leader.

Well we learned he's human, but he's going to be fine. Alabama played us everything underneath, so we couldnt get much going deep. Not to mention i think the bye week played a factor (i'm a big hater, other than nursing injuries, of the bye week). We looked a little flat and rusty, but thats normal when not playin for two weeks. We'll be fine, and so will ainge. Everyday under cut i think he just gets better and better.

Ainge had a bad game and still threw for over 300yds. He'll be fine. Bama played a hell of a game on D. Don't take that away from them.

Ainge will be fine.

Ainge had a decent game against a good defense. His poise in the 4th was a welcome sight. He had 2 picks to simeon castille who is a pretty good DB. One bad overthrow and one forced pass that we would have scored on that drive had he completed a pass. Looks like he was a little geeked for this game early and needed to settle down. Nice plays on the game winning drive.

i think the bye week had a little effect on ainge cause in the beginning of the game he was making some bad throws like over throwing receivers and when he calmed down he started making throws on the money. and if i remember right i think i heard the announcer say that no one has thrown over 300 yds on bama but ainge did

I liked the fact that he gained his composer after the int's. It was a good thing for him to struggle. It keeps him sharp and not to get to over confident.

On that "forced pass"... Ainge made the right read and did the right thing, but Bama came with an unusual look on D and their DE made an outstanding play.

Looked to me like it was single coverage and Ainge tried to "Favre" the ball in there, but the throw was late and behind the receiver.

I gotta agree with GAVol on this one. Ainge just threw the ball to the wrong spot. When throwing deep to the sideline, you always want the ball to go out of bounds if your guy is not able to catch it.

Are we talking about that out route to Austin Rogers?
If so, that is such a tough route to throw, and the receiver has some responsibilities as well. Like coming back some on an angle that will shield the DB in press coverage.

That throw has gotten Erik burned before. Tough to hit.

The receiver ran a poor route on that play. He angled toward the pylon rather than cutting back toward the ball, and that allowed the defensive player to cut underneath his pattern for the pick.

I was very impressed with Ainge. Kine set the entire Bama defense to besmuddle and dishearten Ainge. Kine failed. How do I know? I watched him intently each time he was shown with his helmet off on the sidlines. Not once did he even as much as hint of that "constipated" gaze so typical of him on the sidelines last year.

All prospective QBs deciding on what college to sign with need to be told of the Ainge story. Part One: Ainge without Cutcliff. Part two: Ainge with Cutcliff. Also, Peyton and Eli can be thrown in for good measure. Were I a diamond in the rough, highly touted QB prospect going into big time college football, I wouldn't rest until I had the Vols take a very close look at me. This is a recruiting edge that we must exploit to the fullest potential!!!

I think it was a little of both. I cant say their defense was too good, they did give up over 300 yards in the air. And one of the picks was forced into triple coverage (shades of '05). But they were able to made us one-dimensional.

Ainge didnt look as sharp as he did in the uga game, thats for sure.

He has shown what maturity and good coaching can accomplish. No one has a perfect season and Bama threw many new and unfamiliar looks just for this game. He still showed great leadership and skills and the result was still a W. Look at Peyton's history even at Indy. He's had some shaky performances but drove down at the end of the game to win as well.

So I guess we can drop the Ainge/heisman talk?

Ainge and our offense will be fine. Sometimes we have to remember we're not rooting for an NFL team. They're college players, they are not going to be completely consistent one week to the next, no matter how well-coached they are. I think we will score enough points on SC to win the game.

The Vols could have easily been up 24-3 at halftime, but that was just one of those games where things never worked out. I'm relieved that they were able to pull together and get the win anyway. This team has character.
