Ainge in the first round?

Who are going to be the starting WR's this year?

I believe at this point it's Taylor/Briscoe/Hancock. It's expected that O'Neal will be a starter once he arrives and bump one of them down. And I think they're waiting to get the wr from the 07 class in before making anything official. So really, it's kinda unknown.

I hope we are talking about Ainge being a 1st round pick come the 08 draft.

...that would mean a good 07 season for the VOLS!!

I would say 2-3 of Brohm, Henne, Ainge, Woodson, Brennan, and JDB will be taken in the first round. Brohm is almost a lock. The last QB spot or two in the first round will be dependent on this coming season and performances at combines/workouts. There may be another QB or two(possibly mid-major types) that jump into this discussion.

I don't know why some people really like Brohm. I dont feel like his is special.

ALso, Strongly look down upon Woodson. The reason is simple: if one-year exp. under Sanders can make him a 1-rd, then Ainge should have drafted after his freshman year.

SHoot, who is that jac**ss Brennan? A NFL team will draft him because he is from a abriginal area. Lose to Bama means he is not good enough to play in pro.

No comment on JBD and "Mother****ing" Henne (search it on youtube):)

if you stick around here for over a month your faith will be gone.

HAHA, if you've actually watched tennessee over the last 5 seasons, your faith will be gone. Expectations sprout like weeds around here, unfotunately results are more unicorns.

Ainge has his share of flaws as well. He hasn't had an injury free year and has failed to sustain success. A big year this year could change both. The rest need big years to reach the first round, save maybe Brohm.

Ainge has a ton of potential.. He's 6'6" 220 pounds.. basically, he's got a peyton manning body, with about equivalent the amount of arm strength.. He doesnt have the accuracy, but he is improving vastly with Cutliffe.
He's alot more athletic than people give him credit (did u see him run down that Alabama corner that saved the game for us?).. The scouts will rave about his potential and how much his game has improved..
They will like his body, and that's why he will be projected much higher than Troy Smith and Chris Leak..
I am expecting him to be a first day pick of course.. possible slipping into the first round if Ainge has better workouts than Henne and Woodson.. the only QB who is clearly higher on the draft board is Brohm.. but i could see Ainge being the second QB taken.. especially if he makes the improvement that i expect him to make with practicing with Cutliffe every day.. :)

are u kidding me.. Im positive Ainge's arm is at least as strong as Peyton's.. i bet if u had a competition with who could throw it farther, Ainge would win.. It's just that peyton has explicit accuracy within 45 yards or so.. Ainge has good accuracy with 30 yards or so.. that's the difference between them... but Ainge's accuracy will improve...

Ryan Leaf and Jeff George probably had stronger arms than Peyton.

Ainge doesn't even belong in the same sentence with Manning.

noone is saying he does.. He wont ever be as good as Peyton. But he has a similar body, and he can throw it farther than peyton.. thats the only things u can compare with them....
everything else, peyton is way better than ainge..
1) Accuracy

OK, he has a similar body. But is he a similar football player?

This goes back to what I've been saying about talented football players (Peyton Manning) vs. talented athletes (to a certain extent Ainge).

Ainge has the physical tools needed to be a good QB. I'll leave it at that.

I wouldn't consider Ainge to be in Manning's league either, but Ainge's stats from last year are remarkably similar to Manning's stats his Junior year.

I think the draft "gurus" with fall in love with his size. I'd say late 1st round or early 2nd round to a team maybe like the Panthers

And, busts or not, they were #1 and #2 picks, respectively, in the years they were drafted. That is why Ainge has a good chance of going first round. If he puts up pretty good numbers this season, scouts will be all over him. Barring a complete meltdown like 05, I don't see him falling past the 2nd round. All he has to do is have a pretty good season and impress at the combine and in his other workouts, and he should be a top 3, or at the worst a top 5 QB in the 08 draft.

And no one is putting him near the same level as Manning, and that has been easy to understand since the first time someone brought the two of them up. No offense, but the "not in the same sentence" line is pretty weak. :p

I believe that he will end up as an early second round guy. No first round only because of 05 and his willingness to make some really, really boneheaded decisions with the ball.

Ainge will go easily into the first round... he is a good quarterback that has a ton of height.... NFL coaches would be really stupid if they did not pick ainge up in the draft...

If Ainge has a similair season to 06 he will be a first rounder, second at the worst. He has the size and arm, and will work out well. I remember everyone yacking about how Cutler sucked and would go undrafted and after his combine efforts he became a first rounder.

I'd say yes if he shows maturity and has good stats and last but not least doesn't choke in pressure situations. He definitely has the bloodline for being a great pro one day.Of course a good qb can make a fair team look good as well as a good team can do the same for a qb.

more depends on who will need a qb and where, than what Ainge really brings to the table......i think he's a sure fire NFL qb, but looking at 08 and who will need a qb, and who else will be available with him, will have more to do with it than anything else.

he has the size, arm strength and football mind to pllay in the NFL......he has the measurables so to speak......

but unless he just has a really outsanding year this year to build off of what he did last year, i don't know that he's a round 1 guy......i think he's a day one guy.......
