Ainge in preseason

guy doesn't know crap from apple butter. ainge is a bench warmer and will never see the field in a real game. if he does the jets are in major trouble

I think Ainge's NFL ceiling is a viable second string QB, but there are plenty of starting QB's who had less success in college than Ainge. He's tall enough, smart enough, and has a quick release so you never know. I think he's at least securing a roster spot which is not so bad.

So a statement of fact is belittling him. Lighten up Frances. If I wanted to belittle or bash him then him I might start a discussion about his 4 game suspension for the steroid policy violation.

Fair enough on the steroids. I don't know why the NFL allows any of these guys to play except there wouldn't be enough of them not suspended to play the game.

However, it does more harm than good to constantly P&M about guys who, like everyone, make mistakes but play hard and overall contribute more positive than negative. They chose us over everyone else and some "fans" treat them like dirt just to satisfy their own egos or try to look intelligent. LOL

Arian Foster is a good example. He is one of the leading rushers in Vol history and helped win several games with grit and determination. Yet our armchair geniuses cackle about a few critical fumbles he had.

Josh Nunes got out of town as fast as he could when our armchair geniuses booed the team. He might have gone elsewhere anyway, but we probably missed out on a good QB for at least 2 years. And he stated that booing was a factor.

Free speech is great and some I guess believe the fun of being a fan is to carp, P&M and belittle our players every chance they get. I don't believe the negativism helps win games. I don't believe it helps motivate the players, but I certainly believe it hurts recruiting. I guess it helps some folks feel better. Maybe it's better than beating the wife or kicking the dog.

It would be nice to get a 1st round pick for Vince Young, but in reality, the Titans would be lucky to get a 3rd... 4th would be more realistic. We will find out next fall.

At the rate Young is going, the Titans might be lucky to get a bag of peanuts for him. Whatever they do, they definitely need to get a QB in the next draft. Collins is doing well but that's not going to last much longer. VY is definitely NOT the future of Titans. They need to let him go sign with Houston and be a bench warmer that basks in the glow of his college career down there.

Then we could get Erik to come to Nashville and be the heir apparent to Collins.

The fans booing was a convenient excuse for Nunes because in reality, distance was an issue with him and his family. Although, if booing really was the issue, then he is at the perfect spot at Stanford... where they don't care enough about football to probably go to the games, muchless boo.

No comment on the Foster rant. I'll let it speak for itself.

Also, all of the pi**ing and moaning last year ended up getting us a new coach and better recruiters. Not sure how you can say booing hurts recruiting, but whatever...

Saying that Erik Ainge doesn't have much NFL potential has little bearing on his college performance. As for Nunes, I imagine watching a team lay down for Florida was worse than anything the fans did. You think he was itching to go play for the team that just got embarrassed by a terrible school in his backyard, then was humiliated for the fourth time in a row by their biggest division rival?

The Jets went after a QB in the 1st Rd. based on heresay essentially. Ryan had no ligitimate time with Ainge or Clemens to properly evaluate them himself. This camp would've given him the opportunity to do that. But they pulled the trigger based perception, and now....instead of opening up the competition, they are putting all their eggs into Sanchez's basket...before the kid ever hit the practice field.

I hope Tubby Ryan get's proven wrong

Anytime people are highly passionate about something, there's going to be some people who are negative. That's just the way people are wired. Expecting anything else is unrealistic. Everywhere people care a lot, some of the fans boo when things go badly. If that offends recruits, then they're going to have to go play somewhere where either people don't care as much, or where the team is really good every single year. You can't have it both ways.

If you don't want recruits to hear any booing, then don't put a pathetic product on the field. It's pretty simple.

Since fans don't behave the same everywhere, an 18 yr-old student-athlete will take that into consideration and try to go where he feels most comfortable while playing his nonprofessional football and living his college years. Boo all you want if you really think that will help us.

Sometimes drastic measures are necessary to bring about change. Phil Fulmer had lashed himself to the wheel of the Volunteer football program, and was determined to go down with the ship. Drastic actions last year expedited his removal and saved the program from further deterioration. Did these drastic actions cause collateral damage? No doubt. But I think anyone who followed the Tennessee football program, or had done any research on the program, including Nunes, would certainly have realized that the fan uprising was 99.9% related to removing the coach, not criticizing the players for their poor play or lack of effort, (although they may certainly have deserved some critical backlash).

I'd like to see the Titans trade Vince Young and Patrick Ramsey for a 1st Rd pick, and bring in Ainge as the back up. He's a more legit backup, IMHO, than either, and could blossom into a starter while learning from Collins. Plus, I'd like to see them take whatever trade value they get from Vince and package it with their 1st rd this year to move up and take colt McCoy or Bradford...so that they have a legit starter after Collins retires.

Yeah right, like anyone would give a first rounder for two awful quarterbacks, one of which thinks he's a hall-of-famer.
