People like Ainge know more about football and these individuals then any of you hope to ever know. Not even close. So if he says no to someone it is based in way more information then any of you have.

Kiffin is a bad person and a bad coach. His success was as a Co-OC at USC and an OC at Alabama. Both places had considerably more players then anyone. He has been fired from every job except Tennessee. He was very close to getting the NCAA hammer while here. He is the reason (outside of Hamilton) that Tennessee is in this mess. For those that want to bring him back you are so misinformed.

No reason to humiliate yourself by hiring Kiffin back. He has failed multiple times as a head coach. There must be countless better alternatives

Same here. It's unbelievable how immature LK is even to this day. To be utterly shafted by him once, trolled by him, and watch him fail as a HC 3 times, it amazes me that fans want him. If we hire Petrino I'm done till he screws us and leaves. If we hire Kiffin, I'll be embarrassed but still watch reluctantly.

It's crazy how in 1 single day mass numbers of fans are willing to settle for him. Surreal really. My mind wanders to a broader concern. What Americans will do if the power goes out or a city gets nuked etc? God forbid, but nationally people would instantly beg for the worst tyrants ever to come in and save them I think. UT football is like a microcosm of such a disaster. Troubling to watch.

Also for those that say they would be out if Kiffin returns, I'm pretty sure when game day came they would still be wanting UT to win. Even this year and Dooley's last year I watched the games still hoping for an win even though I didn't like the coach.

look at how well coached that team was in all aspects. This was with Crompton as a QB and only needed a decent FG kicker to pull that one off.

yeah, and the dirty little secret, is the reason we were so mad he left...is because we saw what it could look like.

don't forget that. it's not like this was a guy run out of town. we were mad because we wanted him. and we saw it. in year one. and never got to see it come to fruition.

The problem with that is that some of the "old money" think they know best and keep backing losers here to coach.

I was borderline with this when Orgeron was making an attempt with hiring him as offensive coordinator at LSU.

I am even more confused by Tennessee fans wanting him, its a very strange world and I don't get it.

I really don’t understand the angst towards Petrino? He cheated on his wife and wrecked a bike with the employee-girlfriend on the back. The list is long and shady with Kiffin. I would take Petrino all day over Kiffin as it seems he has learned from that mistake.

i think it's been pretty well documented that we've contacted, in some way shape or form, the following candidates:
Kelly
Gruden
Petersen
Mullen
Frost
Schiano
Cutcliffe
Brohm

now add Gundy to the list.

take it however you want, but those are the guys we've contacted, and we're still searching. how far that contact got, not sure, i'm sure most didn't get past the "gauge interest" phase. which should tell you something as well.

Wow, just wow. Just Sunday fans were going wild because TENN was about to hire a coach who 25 years ago may or may not have seen or heard something. They took the moral high ground. By Monday they are rallying around a guy who is proven to have immoral character. I think Lane can coach, would be a very good coach here, may have some AA problems, but his morals will not change. The same cannot be said for fans who were outraged at Schiano's "possible" character but fall in love with Kiffin and discount his "obvious" character. I don't care how many politicians tweeted or called, it all came down to not thinking Schiano was good enough for TENN. At least be honest
