Laugh now, but I guarantee you this... Crompton or Coleman will win more bowl games than Ainge and have more (or equal) wins against quality opponents in our conference than Ainge could lie about having.
Ainge is the worst thing to happen to UT football in 20 years.
 i know how vehemently you believe this, but he just isn't that bad, nor is he a problem of that kind of epic proportion.Laugh now, but I guarantee you this... this looks like something you've repeated to yourself constantly over and over again over a significant amount of time, so much so that after long enough, you've just begun to believe it.0-1 in bowl games, a 5-6 season, no SEC or SEC East championships (Rick Clausen had to take over in 2004) and not one quality win on his resume except Florida 2004.
That is just a brief overview of what Ainge has done... and I've omitted the bad points just to give the guy a fair shot.
What does that have to do with him being a solid qb at UT?
can anyone tell me why ainge is not in the heisman discussion? he is the passing leader in the sec and has the stats to compete with any qb in the nation. he plays in the sec so if you was to put him in any other conferance he would dominate. all the other qbs mentioned in the heisman race play weak schedules and rack up stats. i know tennessee isnt having the greatest year but he cant do it all himself. i was just wondering if i was the only one who felt this way?
I am still one to debate on whether one player can be single handed responsible for the downfall of one team. Ainge has maintained a good QB rating (135.89 in 04, 151.95 in 06, and a 138.62 so far this year). He also set the record of 67% completion percentage last year. So far this year he is second in the SEC in passing yard per game. He has also always been smart with the ball, not throwing more than 9 INT in one year. When I see him, I see a QB that is Peyton-like. To see where he came from in 05 to where he is today shows the heart and maturity he has shown at the QB position. If anyone wants to blame the football season on anyone, I think Ainge would be the last person I would blame. Alot of the things he does, (ie throwing the ball away, and audibles) are just what he is encoded to do by our wonderful coaching staff. If given a chance in the NFL, I think he will do great cause he has a great feel for the game.
Although his stats are decent, I just think he's overshadowed by too many QB's on good teams with better records. Additionally, Teblow and Woodson get more press than Ainge because of their rank in the SEC east. Bottomline, to discuss quarterbacks you have to meet the bar of competing with Teblow (at least in the SEC) and Ainge just isn't close. His impact isn't near as much as Teabag's.
I totally agree with you. Ainge doesn't play defense or special teams, he's not to blame. The only two games where our offense sucked was the Florida and Bama games. I didn't really think it was as much Ainge as it was other players not stepping up, our O-gameplan against the other team's D-gameplan was not better. Therefore, we didn't have much of a chance.
