can anyone tell me why ainge is not in the heisman discussion? he is the passing leader in the sec and has the stats to compete with any qb in the nation. he plays in the sec so if you was to put him in any other conferance he would dominate. all the other qbs mentioned in the heisman race play weak schedules and rack up stats. i know tennessee isnt having the greatest year but he cant do it all himself. i was just wondering if i was the only one who felt this way?

As far as I can remember, the last player to win the Heisman from a crappy team was Paul Hornug of ND, beat out Johnny.

-he's 29th in Overall QB rating, with Tebow and Woodson well ahead of him
-Woodson and now thanks to our D, JPW have more overall passing yards than Ainge in the SEC
-He's neck and neck with Tebow for completion pct in the SEC
-He's 4th in Yards per completion in the SEC
-Thrown around 13 less td's than Woodson and I think Tebow is higher in the category as well in the SEC.
-Is tied for the SEC lead in fewest int's with mr. stafford

what does this mean? Ainge isn't even the best statistical qb in the SEC, how can he be a Heisman favorite?

I don't think anything was mentioned about Heisman Favorite. I think he was just asking how come he's not even being mentioned. That's how I took his thread anyway.

averaging out to be the third best qb in the SEC not only takes "Favorite" away, it takes him completely out of the discussion. Not to mention three embarassing losses.

He's not even the best QB in the SEC East.

How many big games has Ainge won this season? Ainge is 29th in the country in passer rating, 18th in completion percentage (the one thing most of the Ainge appologists rally around), 61st in yards per attempts (all of those 5 yard passes), and tied for 33rd in TD passes. All while playing on a 4-3 team that he hasn't been able to rally behind in the games we needed him the most (17 pts of offense against Bama and 13 pts against UF). He is directly responsible for the momentum changing fumble in the Florida game.
Not only does he not belong in the conversation, he doesn't even belong in the conversation for 1st or 2nd round QB's going into the draft.

Unlike Tebow, Woodson, and Wilson, and unfortunately for Ainge, he won't get the chance to play against the Tennessee defense this year. He'd definitely have a chance to pad his stats with Heisman-like numbers if he got to play against the Vols' defense.

Getting blown out 3 times doesn't help your QB in the post-season award races.

If Peyton Manning can not win the Heisman....and thanks to ESPN he didnt....then NO Tennessee player can win the Heisman.

Ainge will get as many heisman votes as I will.

He's not going to get any consideration for the Heisman, but I do think he will be looked at closely by the NFL scouts and combine. I'm not sure what to make of his pro potential. He is the right size and seems strong enough. But he hasn't shown much in terms of leading the team and I'm not sure if that's his fault or, frankly, that the team is just not "leadable."

Still, the NFL is hurting for good young QBs. Cutler, Leinhart, and Young have shown you can have some success early. Will be interesting to see where Ainge gets drafted.

There are a thousand (I realize 1000 is an exaggeration :ermm:) QB's that are just as big (or bigger) thatn Ainge and jave just as much arm strength as Ainge that have better resumes and have a better trackk record of pulling games out in the clutch when their team seems to have momentum going against them.

I agree there are plenty of them. That's why I say that I can't tell if the lack of "pulling out games in the clutch" is a knock on Ainge or is a knock on the rest of the team, i.e. the rest of the team isn't responding to any spark he tries to ignite at crucial times.

I would put up Ainge's core of receivers against anything Ryan at BC or Dixon at Oregon has.
