Aguilar for Heisman?

I don't think wins and losses matter AS MUCH as going out there and throwing for 300 yards a game and a bunch of TDs.

the wins will help get us to the playoff and help his odds but Travis Hunter didn't need to play on a winning team to win the Heisman.

he just needs to ball out.
Another thing that (unfortunately) matters is the story. Aguilar winning the heisman would be an awesome story. If he can keep pace he’ll be at minimum a finalist

If Aguilar won the Heisman would he surpass Manning as the GOAT at Tennessee??
It would be tough for me. One season vs four. Not to mention all that Peyton has poured into UT after leaving. Afterwards might not count for some.

No. Joey isn’t half the QB Peyton was.

True but that is not really the point.

The days of having a QB like Manning (or Dobbs - who doesn't get the credit he should) ... that comes in and stays for 4 years is gone. The new definition of GOAT will not be what the old definition of GOAT is.

This is all pre-mature though - but let's play the what if game for a minute - if Joey were to propel the Vols into a 11-1 season, SEC championship, win a few games in the playoffs or win it all - he would become a Tennessee football legend and rightfully so and would have his place alongside Manning, Dobbs, Hooker and the other ones that have shined for the Vols.

He's played well except for spurts against UGA. But might need to wait and see how he handles the road games...So far in 3 games he's had 98 percent of the fans behind him.

Nope, because he plays QB for Tennessee. Now if this was going down at Notre Dame, USC, Ohio State or Bama he’d be in the top three discussion right now.

It's not a career award. Majors got screwed worse than Manning.
Yep. My dad was a freshman at UT when Majors was a senior. Johnny was also dad's ROTC student commander then. It does rank higher towards an injustice of sports awards than Mannings., considering that Paul Hornung was on a team with very few wins.

And even then, (insert obligatory “Majors thought Jim Brown should have won it” post here). Hornung should have been 3rd.

If we can make the playoffs, which would mean, what maybe 11-1 or 10-2 and who knows how the season plays out we may see a 9-3 loss team in doubtful but possible.
I think that would boost his odds thru the roof.
WHAT A STORY if he could pull that off. CJH should be able to recruit any recruit in the country with notch in his belt.
We would have to run the table to get in the playoffs.

There’s zero chance of this.
Aguilar has been outstanding and I love him, go Vols, but…

He’s not talented enough, throws off his back foot too much and isn’t accurate enough to be regarded as this nations best player.

Even if he improves, and proves me wrong, my vote would likely go to Brazzell. Their chances are co-dependent and Brazzell Dazzle is where the magic is made.

Even if he outshines his teammate, lest y’all forget, he doesn’t play for a Heisman team.

Agreed. Jayden Daniels won it for a LSU team that lost 3 regular season games.

The big thing is looking good every game. UGA was likely the toughest defense we're going to see, so that gives me a lot of hope for the rest of the season. That and the WRs just being studs this year. Probably our best overall receiving core in terms of raw talent, that we've had under Heup.
Daniels ran for over a thousand yards though on top of his elite passing stats. Aguilar will need to win big most likely to get in that conversation, because he isn’t going to have huge rushing stats.
