Conveniently you’re leaving out his completion rate, missed opportunities, and turnover. You’re welcome to think however you want about his performance. Why do you care so much that I think 57% is mediocre?
Once again, you posted NONE of your amazing stats as a D1 player. Where did you finish in the Heisman voting your senior year? Odds are you never played 1 down of college ball, ( probably not even high school )yet you want to blast JA as "mediocre" for his FIRST game as a Vol.

Loved Aguilar's quick decision making. Lacked some accuracy sometimes, but overall I consider it an upgrade. We were too slow with decision making last year at that position. I'll take a few extra picks in exchange for quicker decisions and more completions.
What picks?

A bit scary that he was off on flairs (most vulnerable throw to pick 6'es)...but was better than Nico everywhere else.

What? Y’all are a tough crowd lmao… he did awesome 😎
I agree, 100%. Anyone who was not impressed today, has unrealistic expectations for a guy who didn’t even come into the program for spring practice. Did he miss some throws, yes. Did he make a lot of plays yes. Clearly an upgrade over the last two quarterbacks and has much more potential moving forward.

Not so fast my friend. I kind of agree with his post. It seemed to me, in the beginning, that we had another over throw Joe playing. He did miss some easy throws. Now, it could be jitters but he was high and off.

I agree. He wasnt perfect. Adrenaline sailed a couple balls too high. Really solid game though. We took ZERO sacks

He didn't have any. Just talking about if he makes some bad throws in future games that get picked, I'm fine with it. As long as he keeps getting the ball out quickly and moving it down the field.

Like I was telling my friend as we watched the game unfold, we’ve had several good pedigree QBs over the last few years…each with numerous stars. In fact we’ve watched many of these guys come and go. That said, we’ve had very few “gamers” since 98. You could easily count them on one hand. But now you’ll have to add another to that list, bc Aguilar is a gamer! GBO!
Perfect description. I feel like him and Heupel are kindred spirits in taking the Juco route before ending up at a power 4/5.

Thought Joey played well today. Learning a playbook in 3 months and playing the way he did I thought was impressive.

Once he builds more cohesiveness with the WR’s we’ll start seeing some 300+ yard, 65-70% completion games.

I voted yes only because I thought he would do well with this offense. With some talent around him he was able to play within his abilities and make very few mistakes. I know it's hard to accept but the seemingly neverending cycle of getting the short end of the poop stick may have ended.

My favorite thing was the ability to over come getting behind the sticks… penalties called back some big plays and JA kept composure and was able to overcome them multiple times throughout the game… decision making was on point.. we all see he gotta get it down a bit but if you remember hooker was a little high to start 22 part of the reason ced got hurt was going up to get a high pass… I think he will be just fine if he can keep they poise all year long.. last thing that bomb was beautiful 1-2 of those a game would take us to another level…

I’ve never seen a 57% performance I thought was better than mediocre. Can you name one historically except someone playing through injury or age?
I watch the game with my eyes not just numbers… not perfect by any stretch but it was week 1 on a shortened off season you keep finding stats to make a fake point.. i got a question for your question… when is the last time you seen a Qb have 3 tds 0 ints 281 yards and win by 19 points get called “mediocre”?? especially in week 1.

ESPN showed the "debut performances" by QBs on new teams yesterday, and JA had the best stats. The F$U QB played well, also.

He did and that FSU QB completed 9 passes the entire game…for Joey’s first game after 2 months of learning a brand new team/system, he was really solid and there’s room to improve.

1. No Interceptions- a big concern by most on here
2. He is a vocal leader & mature at 24 years old- Nico was an enigma IMO and really not what you want in a leader he may get there but that's UCLAs problem now.
3. He throws a high ball. (just 1 overthrow) but our receivers should catch some of the high ones especially the ones they get 2 hands on.
4. He's not as fast as I hoped but sees the field well. Qualifier, I said Dobbs was not fast but sees the field well. I finally said yep Dobbs is fast just doesn't look fast.
5. I think UGA is the big game he can come out of that game, as an also ran like the 4 before him or a hero. Stay tuned

Probably had about as good a game as he could have.. May have to outscore teams this year. Dline got punked most of the night.

The poll is a bit strange. I had very low expectations and just wanted him to not turn it over. I assume some believe he was going to be amazing. I think he will get us in trouble in a game this year, but it will be exciting.

All QB's even the great ones do have games where they get their team in trouble. For me it is more of whether said player throws in the towel when having a bad game or wants it bad enough to work himself out of the situation.

For me, he looked comfortable, looked like he knew what he was doing and played like it. He looked like a QB and like a leader and looked in control. Our last QB did not look like that at all ... ever.

His first real game with this team. And we can only judge this game on what Cuse does the rest of the season. I think their offense is going to score points on some folks. They did catch our defense off balance a few times when they needed first downs or were close to the endzone. It was like our D hasn't practiced agains a speed offense before, which we know isn't true. Lots of film for the D to watch to clean up their play. I am glad Cuse tested our D the way they did. At least we have a lot of film for the guys now to clean up before the GA game. Looking at GA, they get no test before TN. Two cupcakes. Throwing out last years GA game because of Nico. Let's see if JA and the offense can find some lightening in a bottle for this game.
