Won't take much to do better than Nico, 167 yds passing 0 td 0 int. I rather have 2 td and one int. as that. Or 4td and 2 int. as 0 td, as we had last year.
I know it’s easy to look back and hate Nico for obvious reasons. For the first few games in September, he didn’t even play during the fourth quarter because we were already up by several tds.

Joey had a beuatiful deep pass today but he also overthrew multiple screen passes. It’s hard to get a read on what he will look like during sec play and it’s even more difficult when you’re playing against top tier teams. Ask Arch Manning

He hit a bunch of receivers in the hands... Including the 5 star. The receiver play today was mediocre. C+ at best.

His calmness and awareness make him a step up from the last 2 seasons tbh, if we base off this one game.
Add in a couple playground type plays we have been missing, like his buying time with his head up and hitting Star for a nerf football type yard play. Fact is last 2 couldn’t or didn’t make that play or see the opportunity to throw it with a defenders back turned.

This has happened to every qb since Hooker. Wr drops are not new to us at all. At this point I’m wondering why it’s such a consistent issue

Kind of sucks getting into a thread this late and everyone is pretty much already saying what you were going to post.

But he impressed me.

He will only get better.

Receivers will too...so shall rb's and o-line.

As posted... we'll know more in a few weeks...but I was grinning quite a bit it for the kid and what a QB whisperer could do in multiple weeks.

Offensive seemed quicker.

Defense had some struggles but I think they know they're extremely talented and have to play fun...like at home....in the backyard...and trust the dude next to him to do his job... Not one person has to do everything.

It was a fun game.. we did not murder them but we executed ....we had some issues but that's the first game of the season.

It's a very exciting time to be a VOL... the future is bright and I look forward to watching the season.

ITS GREAT TO BE A TENNESSEE VOL!

I thought he did well. A few high throws but the receivers dropped a few, so a few of the incompletions weren’t on him.

He made a couple of plays that would have never happened last year. Escaping a sack then picking up the TD throwing back to his right, then the perfect low pass into the end zone thar was called back due to an illegible down field. Pretty good touch on deep balls, plenty of arm.

I was very pleased.

The poll is a bit strange. I had very low expectations and just wanted him to not turn it over. I assume some believe he was going to be amazing. I think he will get us in trouble in a game this year, but it will be exciting.
Well, if you had low expectations, then I would guess he exceeded your expectations. That is what the pollster is asking.

He definitely played to my expectations, with a mediocre performance.
So, you consider the way he played mediocre? He has been here since late June Early July and ran the offense very well. THe tempo was more what is expected from a CJH offense. When he cleans up some of the rushed throws that sailed high, it will be significantly better. Film to watch, a week to practice and a early season scrimmage to work out the kinks and it should hum like a well-oiled machine. I understand you expecting mediocrity, but don't understand how that is what you saw.

Joey Aguilar completed 16 of 28 (57%) and that was with several drops and overthrows. The biggest thing to me was that he didn’t throw any interceptions and really didn’t really throw any balls up for grabs. He also didn’t get sacked a single time - that’s in part due to a good outing by the OL but Aguilar was well aware of the pressure and moved to avoid it and to buy time.

DO you remember who we played the first game last year? We played the powerhouse of Chattanooga! You can compare passing yardages and score this next game as ETSU is about the same level as Chattanooga His passing was not the reason most of those leads existed. The running of Dylan Sampson and crew did a lot of it. The stat line of NC State shows that. Nico accounted for 265 total yards with 2 TDs and 2 ints. This game, Joey Aguilar accounted for 281 yards with three TDs and 0 ints. Clarifier, Nico had been in the program for a full year+.
