Works more times than not Imo. Urban totally burned us by doing it. Using Tebow they went for it a million times against us on fourth and converted almost all of them. And it always provides an emotional boost for the team. Even if you don't convert it sends a message to the team that you believe in them and are willing to put it all on the line. Remember a few years ago we seemed to take the momentum at home against Uf and they converted a fake punt? They went on to score and put the game away. Butch would have never had the courage to make that call. If we have a 1 point lead we are content to sit on it. It has continually burned us the last 2 years. I just don't get it. Yesterday in the second quarter we put together one of our best drives of the day and had a 4th and 2 from the 35. I knew Butch would punt and that is exactly what he did. At that point in the game our D had only allowed about 40 yards. The ball went into the endzone gaining us 15 yards of field position but lost us a bunch of energy. You could just feel it. It sucked the life out of the stadium and the team. We've got to play with a sense of urgency.

It did seem like we played not to lose, totally different than the UGA game. By the way, somebody is going to jump one of those screens and return it for an easy pic 6 if we don't open it up a bit.

If you watched the game you would have remembered we were struggling because of field position. This was an opportunity to flip field position. I feel it was the correct call.

That is true to a degree.

However, we can't continually create turnovers and get 3 or nothing.
We left 14- 21 points inside the 20.

This game should have never been close or ended the way it did.

The kill shot after a turnover has to stop. Period.

In a field position type of game... You have to capitalize on every scoring opportunity. And we blew that one. I wish urban would have tried to flip the field instead of continuing to score against us in a couple of this game. All he was every concerned about was scoring and he kicked our butts because of it

Agreed.
Worley looked like a different guy against Fla

Worley looked different because no one was open we only had about 28 yards rushing. Play calling was questionable

We made the florida DBs look like all-pros. Our WRs seemed to have trouble getting open. Basically, nothing worked on offense. Three or four of our best pass plays were a result of tough catches by the wideouts. Our first-down production was horrible and so we faced 3rd and long all afternoon. Quarterback can't scramble or run. Any kind of decent offensive performance and we win easily. Instead, it was our annual florida choke.

I just want to know what the offensive game plan was? Florida was way to fast for any of those long passes to the flat to really work. Worley seems to forget that he has a couple of really tall tight ends and Croom and North both over 6'4" to throw to. Seems as if he kept wanting to go to Pig. He also seems to forget that his offensive line is the worst I've seen at UT in 25 years and needs to get the ball away quick.
I would really like to see UT, at least some of the time, go to an I - formation, with Hurd able to get some momentum going and look for a hole instead of this just handing the ball off like a modified draw every time. I just didn't see a lot of imagination in the play calling and we just kept shooting ourselves in the foot with stupid penalties.

Agree with you Chattavol. Sometimes you have to take the bull by the horns. I feel Butch should have sent a message that we were in it to win it! He seemed to have been caught up in the field position game and looking for turnovers with Florida deep in their own territory. Could have made a statement with that one and destroyed UF's confidence!!! :thud:
