Aggie fans, you out there?

Take Hard Toll Road North from George Bush Airport... It will dump you out in The Woodlands on I45... Go north on 45 to Conroe. Exit 105 West, and that will take you all the way to Navasota where you will get on Hwy 6 North to College Station (about 20 miles).

Man reading this bring back memories. I'll always remember when I went canoeing in Clear Lake, and till this day I swear a shark bumped my canoe. Scared the sheee out of me 😎

My sister-in-law is an Aggie. They're pretty harmless. Nice people, not cocky about big wins for the most part.

Yeah and you can tell that by the half dozen or so that have commented in some of threads already. By far the best fanbase I've been exposed to.

I hated some of Oregon's fanbase.

Aggie just seems happy to have College Football.

I expect an exciting game Saturday. Maybe the most exciting game of the year.

The matchup is fascinating... They are what many people thought we would look like. And we're facing that.

Yet here we are this dangerous, gritty and talented team, that doesn't know how to quit.

I think we're really going to surprise some people on Saturday!

I'm thinking 40- 39 Vols.☺

This is a game I wish I was attending but I've got to be elsewhere. I don't think our fan bases have built up enough bad blood to hate one another. This should be a really fun trip for the Vol fans that travel.

Our permanent East opponent should be Tennessee...not South Carolina. But I understand why it is that way, given Tennessee would never give up Alabama.

As far as bad blood...I would be disappointed if that occurred. Spend some time at the Alamo to see the ties that bind Tennessee to Texas (and visa versa) were formed many years ago.

Amen.

In the 70s, my granddad took me on a step by step history tour from Washington on the Brazos to San Jacinto. Good times.

They must really have a self-inflated sense of how good their team is. It's amazing how most fans on our board are showing them respect and think it will be a good game that we might lose, but their fans expect our team to just roll over and not put up a fight. Have they watched our team play? Did they watch their team against USCe?

This is going to be a dog fight. They very well might win, and probably will, but thinking it's an easy W is just being naive honestly.

I think the vast majority of Aggies will tell you that they expect this to be our toughest matchup this season and that we'll be fortunate to walk out of Kyle Field with a win. We've actually been better on the road under Sumlin then at home, many Ags are pointing to this game as the turning point for our home struggles in the SEC. Again, if you have any questions about A&M or Aggieland please don't hesitate to ask...........safe travels down to the Great State of Texas.

Sumlin is certainly a smarta$$ that I know lol.

Chavis is the best we've ever had as well. Maybe Shoop changes that if he gets a healthy team.

Naw.....Ken Donohue has been the best DC in my lifetime....and I LIKE CHAVIS...but Ken Donohue was the best......His game plan and play-calls against Miami in the Sugar Bowl were classic....

and HIS DBs were always COACHED UP.....unlike Chavis' or Shoop's.....

I went to the 2005 cotton bowl and their fans were cordial. The 12th man chants from the cadets was amazing. They have all these chants they do and it's impressive. I don't think it will be a blow out one way or the other. We're the more tested team, however if we play like we have in the first half we may find ourselves behind 35 points.

If we show up it will be a 4th quarter game.
If TAM plays like they did vs USCjr we will win.

Another great Saturday of SEC football! Go VOLS!!

Man I cant wait. I got parking in CSS, right across from the stadium so we will be tailgating with some aggies. I have heard nothing but good things about Kyle field and plus you guys hate Texas as well.

I am trying to get all the info I can. The wife and I are driving in from Florida and will be getting there very early Friday. We are looking for good texas BBQ, good places to drink and places to meet people.

I'll come out and say it. I like Texas A&M. I want you guys to win all your games unless it's against UT (Tennessee...the real UT).

Texas is a great state. I miss the BBQ dearly. And Houston is a top 5 city in my book.

Brazos Bend is awesome.

Every fanbase has their crap talkers. It makes things interesting.

.....

Maybe one of Aggie visitors will share some detail of their game day traditions.

There is a lot of history there. It's unique like only a Vol fan can appreciate.

I posted this last week, but I'll bump it here for you...

I try to put this together every year for traveling fans, so your trip to College Station is as easy as possible. Here's my take on how to maximize your fun in College Station. Keep in mind, I am in my early 30s, so it skews more towards the Night life and tailgating than the fine dining and sight seeing.

A few notes worth mentioning. Northgate is the Entertainment District in College Station. It's a 4-5 block area with 30-35 bars and a dozen or so restaurants that sits on University Avenue right across from campus. West Campus is where Reed Arena, Olsen Field and the REC Center sit and a large swath of tailgating takes place in this area. This is where 90% of the RVs are parked.

Restaurants in College Station worth visiting:
Republic Steakhouse -- Fantastic selection of bourbon and whiskeys. One of the best steakhouses in SE Texas. You would need to make reservations here.
Cafe Eccell -- Personally, my favorite for the price. It's a nice dinner, but not extravagant in price. They have great handcrafted cocktails and wood fired pizzas.
Napa Flats
Christopher's -- More fine dining.
Torchy's Tacos -- Leave the bar after a big night, find yourself here.
Freebird's -- On Northgate, large burritos
West End Elixir -- On Northgate, new place with unique cocktails and great food.
Koppe Bridge -- Best Burgers in town.

Northgate: Bar District (I'll just go West to East down Northgate)
West End Elixir -- See above
Chimy's -- Deadly Margarita and Tequila selection. Fun porch and always a great place to cap off your night.
Bar 12 -- Rooftop porch, two level bar.
Boulevard 247 -- Dance Club
O'Bannons -- Irish Pub with great beer selection
Paddock Lane -- Same as O'Bannons
Tipsy Turtle -- New Orleans Style Daquiri Bar
The Backyard -- One of my favorites. Chilled liquor on tap and tons of games on the back porch (Beer pong, washers, darts, etc). 2 story
Dry Bean Saloon -- Shot saloon with 200 different shots on the menu
Dixie Chicken -- College Station staple since 1974. I'd have one drink here at least. It will be slammed on Friday nights.
Dudley's -- The Chicken's less country brother since I can remember.
Madhatters -- 80s bar with cheap, STRONG drinks
Basil Whippets -- The "Apothecary Lounge"
Corner Bar -- Another one of my favorites. Three stories, with a large open air rooftop bar overlooking campus
Hookah Lounge -- Hookah bar that serves drinks
Foundation -- Dance Club
Kyoto Sake Bar -- Name explains itsself. All sake all the time.
Gatsbys -- Dance Club
Logie's -- Huge beers with a porch looking at inner Northgate
Rebel Draft House -- Tons of beers and large with a wrap around porch.
Rough Draught -- Top shelf bourbon, whiskey, scotch bar. They flavor balls of ice for their old fashion drinks. It's good.
Cedar Lane -- Try a "wake me up"...
Blackwater Draw -- Local microbrew that serves food.
Hurricane Harry's -- Dance Hall (Country centric)

Tailgating:
You'll get differing opinions on this depending on the age and tastes of the Aggie fan, so I'm going to throw all options out here.

West Campus -- This is where I tailgate and prefer. I'd suggest getting there early, and either dropping your stuff off around Reed Arena (in the grass) or around the parking garage (in the grass) and parking somewhere further out on West Campus in the pay lots. West Campus is a mix of all types, but tends to be the best collection of parties on campus. We tailgate at Reed Arena in the grass looking at the Baseball and Softball field. It is in the grass in front of 100g in the link below. We have a blow up 12th Man guy, so stop by and drink some on us. You can drop your stuff off starting at noon on Friday. The RV lots here are at Reed Arena, Olsen Field, George Bush Library and the Steam Building. [URLT]http://transportmap.tamu.edu/parkingmap/tsmap.htm?map=ft[/URLT]

Spence Park -- This is the park on the East Side of the stadium. You can't park anywhere around here, but you can drop off starting at noon on Friday. It's another good mix of students and alum, but you can't have the big trailers or generators in Spence. You have to power up your tailgate through batteries. Again, a nice place that's fun, just a little more of a hassle to set up up and pick up.

Cain Park -- This is the Reserved tailgating. A little less rowdy and more corporate, but crowded nonetheless.

Pay Lots -- The Pay lots are on the periphery of campus and not nearly as crowded as inner campus tailgating. If you want a quieter area, this is your place, but if your anything like me, you don't come all this way to not mix it up with the locals.

Golf:
Traditions Club -- A&M Golf Team home course and a Nicklaus course.
Miramont -- Private RTJ course
A&M on campus course -- I actually like this course since it's been redone.
Bryan Muni -- Haha.... no.

Sights and Sounds --
George Bush Library -- 41s Presidential Library on West Campus. RV Field parking is right beside it.
Bonfire Memorial -- On the NorthEast Side of campus recognizing the 1999 tragedy.
Messina Hof Winery -- Local winery in Bryan. I love it here at dusk..

If you have any other questions, don't hesitate to ask.

I've been in Texas for a long time and love it but the BBQ from East TN and NC is the best. You might be disappointed.

Eat some Tex-Mex while you are there. We don't have any of that here in E. Tennessee. How I miss my Tex-Mex.

Torchy's is very good for fusion tacos.

The TXMex is awesome.

Ha ha, we're guests here so we will remain civil but we take our BBQ very seriously. To be honest, I've never met a type of BBQ that I wouldn't tear in to like Les Miles into some field turf.

Lol! I'm not bad mouthing TX BBQ. I love it. No better brisket anywhere. I'm still partial to the pulled pork and ribs from the hills of Appalachia. Nothing better.

Howdy Vols!

There is a lot of Kool-Aid drinking going on with both fanbases right now, so I woudn’t read too much into the message board bluster coming from our end. I’m sure neither team is overlooking the other. I caught some of the local radio show on my drive from CS to Houston this morning (recruiting guru Billy Liucci from TexAgs) and he felt Tennessee was the first team the Aggies have faced all year where you could compare the 85 man roster from top to bottom and rate the talent as equal. He did like our body of work a little better, but there is no mistake that the Ags will have to bring their A game this weekend to come out on top. He also felt that this will be one of the two biggest games at Kyle Field going back 20-30 years based on the implications going forward. Kyle will be rocking for sure, but it isn’t like you all don’t play in big time SEC game environments on a regular basis. I fully expect this game to be a four quarter war and the team that executes better and makes better half time adjustments should win. Either way it goes I hope the traveling Vols have a blast in Aggieland and that both teams come away healthy.

As an aside, I was at the 2005 Cotton Bowl and had a great time mingling with the Tennessee fans. I remember looking at the Tennessee defensive front’s size compared to our O line the first time they took the field and thinking “Oh ****, that’s not good!” I’m glad we’ll be on equal footing this time around.
