You are not allowed to be unsure. You have to pick a side and everything has to be as polarized as possible.

:eek:lol:

If that was the choices given I would have said ...

Pro but only holding on by a thread...lose by more than a TD to Vandy or lose to UK period and I'll be converted to anti-Dooley. Sure...he's got his positives but as a fully capable head coach for the Vols...I still have my doubts.

28-pro

Should have done a 25-35 age group as this is the group(sadly I have to put up with group of people the rest of my life) that wants instant gratification. They also grew up in the glory days and expect 1998 every year. Looking at history, one would realize this is impossible as football is cyclical. Given where we are with the players that left, just finished NCAA investigation and injuries; I would like to see Dooley get at minimum 2 more years. After that we will have a good mix of upperclassmen and depth. If Dooley is unable to compete then it would be time for David Hart to make a move and bring in "his" guy.

I am slightly surprised with the results.

I expected for there to be more Dooley supports, but I thought most of the anti-Dooley people would be below the age 25.

I thought the young ones were the ones posting all the Dooley hate. Younger people tend to have less patience, and are a generation of instant gratification.

A lot of the hate post are just a loud minority.

I am below 25 and I support Dooley. I also lack patience and am part of the "Entitled Generation," BUT I do have faith in Dooley. I think he is a class act and he is a positive person. He leads well and he shows those boys discipline. I think, considering what he has had to start from and rebuild, he is going to progress. He needs his star players back obviously, but he has a young team to improve as well. To me, it is about more than scoring and titles; it is about having fun and keeping a positive mentality, even when you are not doing as well as you had hoped. The Anti's can complain all they want, but at the end of the day they can't do a damn thing and that kills them. Best to just ride it out and see what happens.

what this shows me is that there is a majority of fans (all age) who are pro-Dooley but the negative always is the loudest.

It's not an age demographic issue. It's an intelligence demographic issue.

You simply cannot start talking about firing Dooley at this point. He hasn't had a fair shake at showing us anything yet. Plus he's doing really well in recruiting. We're about to land Autry and Meredith in the coming week or so to add two more 4* players for a total of 11 (Rivals)...

We're 4-6 on the season, yet we're going to end up having a top 10 recruiting class. I mean, that says alot about our coaching staff's ability to recruit. We have to let them put their own players on the field over the next couple of years to really make a good decision to keep this staff or move on to another one.

It's too early for that discussion right now. Anyone who argues against that fact is clearly off their rocker and has unreasonable expectations for everything Tennessee football has gone through over the last 5 years.

41 and unsure. I want to be Pro-Dooley. I am not sure he is the right guy, but even if he isnt, now is not the time to even consider a change. Another coaching change could be a decade long death nail in our ability to compete at football.

I myself do not see Dooley as a potential championship coach. I heard someone else say it best, "If a dog will bite he will do it as a pup". I think that applies. Even with that said, we need this season and next before we can justifiably make a move AND expect anyone worth hiring to want to come here. If we ditch him now the next hire would probably be further down the ladder than our last desperation hire. Thats what brought LA Techs coach here with 3 years coaching experience and a last name.

I’m anti UT administration for hiring him. Too many unknowns, unproven and what history existed suggested that he couldn’t get it done. Was then…and now.

Now I don’t fault him for taking the job… far from it…when I was a young engineer I did everything I could to get a job as a manager long before I was ready……and didn’t deserve…I struggled and my company suffered…I barely survived…barely…Dooly won’t.

Started out unbashedly pro because I am almost the same age as Dooley, have the same educational background and was raised in the South. I felt like this is a guy I can identify with, and still do, so I gave him every benefit of the doubt early on when alot of fans on this board were *****ing and moaning about hiring a WAC coach who didn't have a very impressive football resume. I've met and talked with our head coach. I like him and I enjoy his sense of humor. All that said, I'm solidly unsure. I personally no longer believe that this guy will take us back to 1990s level success but I also recognize that there is some merit to those who say that if he just had more talent and depth to work with then he could get over the hump. Of course, I think that any coach can win with the right amount of talent and depth and I offer Les Miles as Exhibit 1 and Larry Coker as Exhibit 2. We're never going to consistently outrecruit the UFs and Bams of this world, so if Dooley is going to beat these teams he's going to have to do it on the chalkboard and through motivation. This year I am seeing very little in the way of sophisticated scheming or inspired play. really, I'm just dumbfounded. I expected us to be bad, but I didn't expect us to suck at a historical leve.

What this thread shows me that there are a lot of squeaky wheels representing a minority posting and whining over and over.

Unsure - 38

I wasn't a big fan of the hire. I wanted someone more proven.

But, I'm willing to see him get another year to show improvement. I don't want the guy to fail (that would be bad for UT), but I'm not confident that he can get it done.
