Kevin Sumlin's offense is a systems type offense. You don't have to have the greatest talent level, for it to be successful. That works in college football. That is what we need. We are not going to get Jon Gruden or any other big name coach. We need to hire that type of coach, and let them bring in a DC that can coach defense.

Keep in mind that some of the "experts" here said, last time around, that Sumlin could never win in the SEC thus a bad fit for UT.

I guess beating bama at home last night proves it.

He has a great offensive system and some decent athletes. They are going to do well in the SEC.

Actually Hamilton chose Dooley over Sumlin because Dooley has better organizational skills.

Those organizational skills helped us lose at home to a first year S.E.C. team, meanwhile; Sumlin's lack of organizational skills helped him beat the #1 team in the land, in Tuscaloosa, on the same day that we lost.

Yep.

Sumlin may end up not being a world beater, but he would have been a helluva lot better choice than lame or fooley.

Not worried about what's in the past. More worried about UT.

Most likely Johnny football couldn't make it in the NFL. He would not get a way with the excessive scrambling, which is a HUGE part of his game.

1) He is a freshman
2) He can sling it
3) He plays smart

I think he can get to the NFL with proper development.

Sumlin was always going to be around Tx or Ok area after coaching at A & M and Houston, especially.
With Tx and A & M on shaky HC ground the last few years, he wasn't jumping to TN in the SEC where he has no ties. He's in bigtime with HS coaches in Tx and Ok. A smart HC stays where his strengths are.

Urban was also a good systems coach. He made Tebow look like a world beater. He is a great athlete, but a sorry QB.

Sorry or not, he is an NFL QB and has a playoff win as a starter to prove it. There are lots of really excellent QB's that can't say the same.

Who cares about the NFL if you are winning? I could care less if our QB is a first round pick or a 6th round pick projected as a convert to WR as long as he is a winner in Orange.

I think you missed the point. I don't think Johnny football could play in NFL, but is an outstanding college QB. I think we are in agreement.

Johnny football is to Sumlin what Cam newton was to Chizik.

Cam Newton was a 5 star juco all-american expected to come in and win now. Johnny Football is a 3 star true freshman. There is a difference. Sumlin will be dominant at aTm for a very long time because all those elite Texas athletes will be able to stay home and still play in the SEC. This is not Chizik 2.0 but rather the birth of a powerhouse.

Disagree. Did you see some of the extremely difficult throws he made perfectly last night? And it's not really excessive scrambling. He's just shifty when he gets it trouble and can make crazy accurate throws on the run.

Sumlin >>>>> Chizik. Malzahn was obviously the reason for Auburn's success, Scam Newton as well.
