After what I’ve seen, I still think we make a bowl game

I can stomach this loss. After years of seeing teams make us look “young”, this loss was nothing compared to the Butch years. We also have a coach who owned up to his shortcomings. For me, Florida is the only toss up game left. We win, it is 8-4. We lose, it is 7-5.

Giddy Up

So you are saying it was a better loss than Butch’s losses?

Agreed. I honestly believe that we will be 7-5/8-4. We definitely lose to WVU (duh), Bama, UGA, Auburn. Only toss up is Florida for me. Now I know people will also say Mizzou and USC, but the reason I don’t consider them toss ups is that we will be full steam with Pruitt’s program by then. I know it is just WVU, but our team showed that ball control will get it done. If we beat Florida, lookout 8-4. If we lose, hello 7-5.

This is rich.

No it’s not.
Seriously, if we lose to both Uk and Vandy he will be feeling the pressure from media, donors, and his boss CFP. That is the definition of the hot seat. He is in a must win situation for the next season for those games. Like it or not that is the current reality. If you don’t make it to the SECC game in three years the numbers say you ain’t gonna do it

You are crazy. He will not be on the hot seat for those losses alone. Fulmer will take everything into consideration. He took over the worst team in program history. Period. Not debatable. What the heck did you mouth breathers think was going to happen? You don’t fix broken over night. I was not excited about the hire. But I am not stupid enough to believe we were going to have some miraculous turnaround in year one. We have massive talent and depth issues in critical areas. He needs time to fix that. I don’t know what team you watched last year. He took over hot garbage. Our record last year reflects that.

Game is in Neyland. Crowd will be wild as it will be first big game at home under a new coach. We win that game and we finish 8-4. Will be a good for sure.
Can the Vols win this one. Sure, if they dramatically improve in every facet of the game before we play them, and maybe get some breaks. I think a lot of our fans believe that because the Vols and Gators had the same record last year, we are evenly matched. I don't know. Maybe we are, but after getting beaten by UF even when we were the better team (how many times has that happened?), I will remain skeptical. Plus, I think we will find the UF defense better than WVa's. Offense, no.

I hope we make a bowl game, but, I don't see it. New coaches and some new players, however, the same issues persist from last year.

So you are saying we lose to Vandy and Kentucky and he feels no heat, no pressure from media or boosters and CPF just pats him on he head and says it’s ok, your team wasn’t that good anyway. That sounds crazy to me. If we hired a guy who loses to Vandy and U.K. two more years in a row and don’t fire his ass then why did we fire Jones? Or Dooley? It’s his job to at least be one game better and if he can’t do it, then yes, he’s on notice for the next season

My thought is: If we can improve over the abortion that was last year, then at least we're actually headed in the right direction, let's give CP a fighting chance, one game, as bad as it was, isn't enough to quit on the season. BTW, in today's world, with the almost unlimited number of bowls, we'll see 5 win teams headed to a bowl again this year.

I am saying outside of going winless, or scandal, he’s not on the hot seat after this season. And he won’t lose his job before year 3. Meaning he could lose to Vandy and Kentucky next year and still not lose his job. Would his seat be hot? Hell yea it would.

We hired a guy to clean up someone else’s mess. And I am sure he feels pressure to win everyday. Your moaning won’t change that. Everyone of these coaches feels the pressure to win every week.

Also you think Fulmer will give up his pride and ego and admit he was wrong on his hire after only two seasons? I love CPF but that’s almost as dumb s your original argument. Everyone at his level have massive egos.

You do realize that part of the reason we have a hard time attracting first rate coaches is we are viewed as a ridiculously crazy fan base right? Even discussing him being on the hot seat before he has been on campus a year is not just stupid it’s damaging to the program.

I’m still very optimistic, not so much about this year I think floor is 5-7 ceiling is 7-5. With that said our team is very young jg and Tim Jordan were very impressive and they are both sophomores. It’s too early to judge give it some time let Pruitt work with the defense longer and then let’s judge. Also are running backs are gonna be studs

THats exactly what I said, he will be in the hot seat if he loses to Vandy and Ky. Which means he probably only wins 3 games this year. And yes, his seat will be hot. I didn’t say he would be fired for that. If he does it two years in a row then I think he will be fired for going 6-18

No I am saying he won’t be on the hot seat at all this year barring scandal or going winless. If he wins 3 this year, and follows that up with another non bowl year, then in year 3 he may be on the hot seat.

The fans will be idiots but Pruitt will get a full Hall Pass in his first year following Butch.

IM saying if he wins six games in two years he’s fired going into three. But I’m also not saying that’s happening after one game. I still think this is a 5 win team

I admire your optimism. I think the gators will beat us handily. Hope I am wrong.
What makes you say this? Because we played a good, ranked team and they played the Florida school of the blind? I think we're overreacting just a bit when all we've seen is one game.

You
They'll have to vastly improve. WV defense isn't anything special and they put up a whooping 14 points on them. Did some good things offensively but that defense probably isn't a good litmus test. The Vols defense on the other hand has some problems. Veteran line still can't get pressure. I just think at this point it can only be fixed through recruiting. Jones classes aren't as good as their rankings were.
You will eat your words!
