I have seen the Vol Walk a few times, but usually do not go because after it's over there is two hours to kill. It's not worth going back to the car and tailgating more unless you have a parking pass close by and it is pushing it to get to the strip and get some food and a few beers before kickoff. Calhoun's is pretty close but it is so packed at that point you can't get in. I am wanting to take my wife, son and daughter to at least one game this year and my daughter who is 7 has never seen the Vol Walk, so I need to do that. It's usually just me and my son who is a teenager and we usually just tailgate until close to kick off. Any ideas of what to do to kill two hours after the Vol Walk?

What about seeing the Salute to the Hill, when the band comes in? I think that's about an hour before kickoff.

And then you could always just do the riverwalk thing and see the vol navy, even if Calhoun's is too crowded.

We just went back and played a few more games of washers after the Vol Walk/Salute to the Hill. Then went to the gate about 45 minutes before

you could get to the strip faster than Calhouns IMO. Maybe could get down to the river and back before the game starts though

Could definitely get to the river and back before the game starts. It takes 5 minutes to get to where we saw the VolNavy docked last Friday night

I have never seen Salute to the Hill. Can you guys fill me in on this? Is it the Band with Smokey and the whole 9 yards? My daughter would probably like this more anyways.

It's where the band starts at around Lake Loudon(? not too familiar with street names on campus) and marches down towards Neyland

Okay, I found out what's going on. I was confused about the Salute to the Hill. It is basically the band coming in then stopping and doing the salute. Duh.... I found the information here. This will be great. Looks like the band starts marching 35 minutes after the vol walk starts.

You could always take your little one around a few lots looking for cars with Gator flags. Never to early to teach 'em how to lay a key scratch & slash a tire.

They're always showing a game or College Gameday at the auditorium in the UC. That's where I usually go if I'm trying to kill some time.

After Salute to the Hill I like to enter the stadium and go into the big store. The place is packed and they always have some new item I have to buy. I also like to watch the team warm up, get my food and drink, and get settled in my seat before the band's pregame show. This is the only time I actually SIT in my seat.
