After the Kentucky loss

Apparently, a lot of decision-makers and boosters and others advising Currie are advocating that no good can come of firing Jones in-season. He’s being advised, even urged to wait until the end of the season. Doug Mathews said this again today on 104.5 The Zone in Nashville and apparently on board with this line of thinking. Said “firing a guy to make everybody feel better is not a good reason to fire a guy” among other things.

So, don’t expect to see Jones gone until after the Vandy loss to close the season. I’ve already resigned myself to the likelihood.

I think you are right. LSU fell back to Orgeron. Currie must feel that our staff must not have an Orgeron type to take over (hated him when he left here w/Kiffen anyway). Anyone with a heartbeat knows CBJ is gone after "Team 121". Recruiting will suffer till we a get a replacement named. We can't name one till after the season, maybe even after his bowl game. Be prepared to wait awhile for that name. But waiting for the Axe to fall here will be the worst part.

I hope we aren't so ready for a coaching change we are wishing for a Kentucky loss. Ive only seen one loss to them in my lifetime and thats one to many as far as im concerned.

Well, they can go ahead and announce he is not returning, then they officially begin a coaching search.

This is what they did with both CPF and CDD. CPF coached out the string... Dooley went into hiding.

If the Vols lose to KY, Butch resigns but coaches out the string. Hopefully, Vol fans will treat him right and cheer him out, as they did Fulmer.

This year is the first year with early signing period, a decision will have to be made sooner rather than later for recruiting purposes. The 2018 class is already falling apart with the current situation. The longer Currie waits, the worse the situation.

I would theoretically agree. Have even heard many pundits discuss how the early signing period potentially changes the timing of firing your head coach. That said, it sure looks right now like Currie and the powers that be aren’t really factoring that in. Suppose thimgs could definitely change depending on how bad the next 2-3 losses are.
