Coach Pruitt needs a couple more strong recruiting classes to consistently compete with the Georgias and Alabamas for a full sixty minutes.

A 7-3 record with a bowl appearance would be solid for the 2020 season.

I fear it may take more than 2 strong classes. With the c-19 environment that is/has limited the ability to recruit, see high schoolers, find "hidden" gems and so on and so forth it likely will take longer. Setting this condition apart, you now have the excitement that is/will be created by the "new Mississippi" teams, the continued progress at Ky. What seems to be new life at Ga. Tech and the continued dominance of Ga. and Ala., it will be hard to get the people we need in just two classes. In addition, the fall/crash of Fla. St. and with Miami' seeming to wake up AND Fla. finally getting a coach who can preform at the highest level in all phases of the game are other factors that will/are going to limit what you can get out of Fla.

I feel like this has been said for the last 10 years.

I would take 7-3 right now and never look back. I agree with the recruiting issue. We need more and more depth on both sides of the line.

I really wanted to see us pull just one of the big 3 out of our arse this year. I think we are capable in CJP yr3. Odds are getting slimmer though.

Honestly, I think that, while we do need to continue recruiting strong, the thing that has hurt Pruitt most is Covid has kept them from really coaching up all the younger talent we do have. A lot of the stuff we witnessed in OL struggles, especially the false starts and missed coverage, are direct result of few practices IMO. Now you can say, "but the dawgs had same limitation" and they did but I think it hurt us more because we need the coaching more. When GA pulled that line shift gimmick, it threw off our OL but especially so because they hadnt had enough practice to be more solid in their assignments.

Its not going to be easy but I think if we regroup we could pull off a win against the gators later this year.

Meanwhile, with pretty much NO recruiting classes, Lane Kiffin took Alabama into panic time late late in the 4th qtr.
So tired of the “number of classes to compete” argument. SEC level recruits can play against SEC level recruits if coached up. And even taking recruiting class into account, three years SHOULD have you close enough to not be consistently giving up almost 50 points per game to your biggest rivals on an ongoing bases.

Get er done Coach!!!!

Insert whatever coach we have at the current time and you'd be right. We never run out of excuses around here. Meanwhile watch Ole Miss this year beat a team or two they have no business beating, with far less talent and probably not in the top 50 in recruiting.

Honestly we need a QB and an Oline. Not sure if it’s coaching at Oline or if Georgia’s front seven is just that damn good. Probably a bit of both.

Yea, so what. We were hanging with them pretty well late into the 4th last year until 'he who shall not be named' went mental and put the death nail into his own team.

So when the same thing keeps happening and you expect a different result, what is that called? Oh yeah, “insanity” 😉
Different subject. One that I don't necessarily disagree with. CJP has got to learn to step out of that ultra conservative box he lives in occasionally.

What Pruitt needs is a dang good QB. Heck even a pretty dang good QB.

Not sure Pruitt can spot a "good QB". His concept of "gives us the best chance to win" seems to solely mean "turns the ball over least in practice".

That mindset is not going to win very many games in 2020 and beyond.
